Vancouver Queen Charlotte Sound
The coastal route of the Inside Passage takes us through the great "North American Pacific... see+ Fjordland," a protected waterway nearly 1,500 kilometers long.

We will pass outside the sheltered fjords, heading up Queen Charlotte Sound and Hecate Strait. It’s a day at sea, with our route somewhat protected from the ocean by Haida Gwaii Island. While sailing, keep an eye out for wildlife, including humpback whales, orcas, fin whales, minke whales, and Pacific white-sided dolphins.

Queen Charlotte Sound Misty Fjords
Located in the Tongass National Forest, the Misty Fjords are a pristine wilderness dotted with... see+ evergreen trees, roaring waterfalls, and majestic snow-capped peaks. Renowned naturalist John Muir described the area as one of the most beautiful places he had ever seen.

Weather permitting, join the expedition team for an excursion in the Misty Fjords aboard our small expedition boats, or explore by kayak.

The Misty Fjords are home to abundant wildlife. During our exploration, watch the shores and forests for black and brown bears, as well as moose. These waters host Pacific salmon, sea otters, Steller sea lions, harbor seals, orcas, and Dall’s porpoises. In the sky, you might spot herons and bald eagles.

Misty Fjords Klawock
Today, we visit Klawock, beautifully located on the west coast of Prince of Wales Island. This... see+ small town of around 700 residents is famous for its collection of totems, the largest in Alaska.

The island, originally named "Taan," meaning sea lion, is a center of Lingít culture. At Totem Park, you will see 21 finely carved examples, some of which are replicas of the originals that once stood in the winter village of Tuxecan.

Klawock Chatham Strait
Start your day watching whales in the pristine waters of Frederick Sound. Today, we embark on a day... see+ of exploration: the captain and expedition team will rely on their local knowledge to choose the best destination.

We may take to the water in our expedition boats to explore the secluded coves and forested shores of Chatham Strait, which stretches nearly 240 km, or enjoy a kayaking excursion if conditions permit. Wherever we explore, keep an eye out for wildlife, as bald eagles, bears, and humpback whales are common sightings in this area.

Chatham Strait Icy Strait Point
Today, a new day of exploration allows us to navigate through Icy Strait and get a closer look at... see+ some of the islands. Possible destinations include George Island, Inian Islands, and Idaho Inlet, but as always, we will assess weather conditions and wildlife viewing opportunities to decide on the most appropriate location.

With our expedition boats, we can approach some rocky shores and possibly land for a nature walk. The coastline of this region becomes increasingly rugged as we move closer to the open sea, with numerous rocky pinnacles and sea caves. Keep an eye out for whales, as well as sea lions, orcas, and bald eagles.

Icy Strait Point Icy Bay
Today, we embark on a day of exploration in Icy Bay. Large sections of three glaciers (Guyot,... see+ Yahtse, and Tyndall) regularly calve into this bay. If conditions permit, you will explore the area aboard our small expedition boats or in kayaks, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of this icy landscape.

Wildlife is abundant in the Gulf of Alaska, providing unparalleled opportunities for photography. Humpback whales, orcas, Steller sea lions, sea otters, and harbor seals lounging on the floating ice chunks are frequently spotted in these waters.

Icy Bay Valdez
Today, you will explore a region that made headlines for the wrong reasons during the Exxon Valdez... see+ oil spill in 1989, but has since remarkably recovered. After considerable cleaning efforts, the coastline has rebounded, a testament to what can be done to heal damaged ecosystems.

By visiting the Valdez Museum, you will discover exhibits on Native American art and culture, as well as items from the gold rush era, and learn more about the history of Alaska’s Bush Pilots. As you explore this region, you may spot wildlife such as beavers, moose, and bears.

Valdez Baie du Prince-William
Today’s day is dedicated to glaciers. Prince William Sound is home to 150 of these amazing rivers... see+ of ice, including 17 incredible tidewater glaciers. Your captain will choose the best spot for the day based on the conditions.

We will get as close to the glaciers as safely possible, entering the fjord aboard our small expedition boats or even exploring by kayak if conditions permit. From your vessel on the water, you might catch sight of humpback whales, bald eagles, sea otters, and common seals, all of which inhabit this wild and icy region.

Baie du Prince-William Seward
Your expedition cruise concludes in Seward, the only ice-free deep-water port with road, rail, and... see+ air connections to the interior of Alaska. Keep an eye out during the cruise in Resurrection Bay, as the area is known for its population of beluga whales.

To make the most of your stay, we recommend participating in our optional Post-program in the incredible Denali National Park, which is home to the highest peak in North America and a vast variety of Alaskan wildlife.
