Visit the Jade Buddha Temple and stop at a silk factory. Then, continue on to the former French Concession. Administered by France between 1849 and 1946, this neighborhood, with its authentic charm, is home to beautiful historic houses. Disembark at Jiujiang and depart for a day trip to Lushan National Park. Bordered by the Yangtze... see+ River to the north and Poyang Lake to the south, the site is breathtakingly beautiful, with strange peaks, waterfalls, caves, crystal-clear lakes, steep cliffs, and a sea of clouds that changes rapidly. The park, a World Heritage Site, has some 200 historic buildings and is considered the "cradle of pastoral poetry and landscape painting in China." Explore the park: the flower trail along the lake, the Celestial Bridge, the ever-blooming Brocade Valley, and the Cave of the Immortal. Lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Meilu Villa, the most famous villa on Mount Lu, built in 1903 by a British woman and the site of important meetings of the Chinese Communist Party. The cliffs seem close enough to touch, and on their walls, the suspended coffins of the Ba people bear witness to a thousand years of human presence.
