The Vltava River (known as the... see+ Moldau in German) flows through the city.Prague is located in the heart of Central Europe. In the past, it was the capital of the Kingdom of Bohemia, the Holy Roman Empire, and Czechoslovakia. In 1968, the Prague Spring and the crushing of "socialism with a human face" by the troops of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact had a profound impact on the people of Prague and inspired the culture of the 1960s-1980s.
