Abu Simbel Kasr Ibrim Amada
Pick-up from your hotel or Abu Simbel airport by our local partner. Visit the two temples of Ramses... see+ II (1.5 hours): the Great Temple of Abu Simbel and the Speos of Nefertari. This magnificent complex was built during the 19th Dynasty by Ramses II to celebrate his own glory and that of his wife Nefertari. The temple of Abu Simbel is undoubtedly one of the most colossal works of ancient Egypt. As Champollion wrote: "This great temple alone is worth the trip to Nubia." This comment perfectly sums up the splendor of the site. Visitors will discover how the temples were saved, and our guide will explain the history and power of Ramses II, whose greatness still impresses today. Boarding, then sailing to Kasr Ibrim. Visit the fortress of Kasr Ibrim, the only archaeological site that was not moved when the waters of Lake Nasser rose. This fortified town occupied the plateau of a sandstone massif on the eastern bank of the Nile, about 80 m above sea level. It dominated the Aniba plain (western bank) and its administrative center, the residence of the viceroys of Nubia under Egyptian rule. Today, about sixty meters have been submerged by the Upper Dam reservoir, and Kasr Ibrim no longer looks like the great stronghold of antiquity. Amada Wadi el Seboua
Breakfast, then a short walk of about 1 hour to reach the site. Visit of the site from 8:00 a.m. to... see+ 10:00 a.m., including three historical monuments: – The Temple of Amada
Dedicated to Amun and Ra-Horakhty, it was built under Thutmose III and his son Amenhotep II (sanctuary and vestibule). Thutmose IV had the hypostyle hall erected, while Seti I built the pylon. The latter, along with his son Ramses II, also carried out restorations and decorations.

– The temple-speos of Derr Originally located on the east bank, this 33-meter-long speos was built under Ramses II in the second half of his reign and dedicated to Amun-Re. Its layout and orientation are similar to those of Abu Simbel, but it is not as monumental and does not feature four colossi. In the sanctuary, we find the same gods seated in the niche: Ra-Horakhty, the deified Ramses II, Amun-Ra, and Ptah.

– The funerary chapel of the viceroy of Nubia, Pennout Pennout, "royal son of Kush" under Ramses VI (20th dynasty), was buried in Aniba, on the west bank, opposite Qasr Ibrim. His tomb consists of a single room. Lunch during the boat trip to Wadi El Seboua.

Built between the 35th and 50th years of Ramses II's reign, this temple—the third hemispeos built by the pharaoh in Nubia—was dedicated to Amun. The temple of "Ramses-beloved-of-Amon-in-the-domain-of-Amon" served as a resting place for the sacred barque during its descent down the Nile. Its Arabic name, Wadi es-Seboua, "the valley of lions," comes from the lion-bodied sphinxes that hauled in the side of the central aisle.

– Maharraqa This unfinished chapel dates from the Roman period. Dedicated to Serapis and Isis, it illustrates the syncretism between the Greek and Egyptian religions: Serapis, a Greco-Alexandrian god combining the attributes of Osiris and Zeus, has Isis as his consort, with whom he begets Harpocrates.

– Dakka This temple is dedicated to Thoth, divine intelligence, master of science, time, accuracy, and lord of letters. Facing north, its orientation and the bas-reliefs of "the Distant One" recall the flooding and power of the expected flood in Egypt. Navigation until sunset. Dinner and overnight stay on the side of the boat in Madiq.

Kalabsha Assouan
After breakfast, you will set off on a series of remarkable visits around the lake. The first stop... see+ is Kalabsh, often referred to as the Karnak of Nubia. This vast temple, dedicated to the Nubian god of fertility Marol, impresses with its proportions and the finesse of its reliefs.

You will then continue to the Kertassi kiosk, a small temple dedicated to Isis. Composed of elegant columns connected by half-height walls, it stands slightly set back, overlooking the lake. Its isolated location and unobstructed view of the vast expanse of water make it a particularly photogenic spot.

The tour continues with Beit el-Ouali, a small spheos carved into the mountain and built during the reign of Seti I. This monument has been relocated to a rocky environment in order to restore its original setting as closely as possible, highlighting the beauty of its sculpture and its preserved atmosphere. At the end of the visits, transfer to a hotel or to Aswan airport.
