You will enter the world of... see+ "Absolute Grandeur": the Giza plateau, symbol of Ancient Egypt with its pyramids: Cheops, the largest of the pyramids and the last of the Seven Wonders of the World, Khafre and his pink granite temple, and Menkaure, flanked by the Queens' Pyramids, all guarded by the famous Sphinx of Giza, the largest monolithic sculpture in the world. After the visits, return to the boat and lunch on board. Afternoon free. In the evening, optional sound and light show in front of the Pyramids. Dinner and night on board.

Breakfast, then off to visit the famous National Museum, one of the richest in the world, in the... see+ heart of Cairo. Inside is the world's largest and most valuable collection of ancient Egyptian archaeological antiquities. It houses 120,000 antiquities, including the treasures of Tutankhamen's tomb and most of the mummies ever discovered.

Followed by a visit to Islamic Cairo, with its thousand minarets, citadel and Mohamed Ali mosque. The latter is largely inspired by traditional architecture. After the visits, return to the ship and lunch on board. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight on board.

After breakfast, visit the tombs of Beni Hassan, located on the right bank of the Nile some 18km... see+ south of the town of Al-Minya, the site of Beni Hassan comprises a group of princely tombs dating back to the Middle Ages. Of the thirty-nine tombs in this cliff-dwelling necropolis, only twelve have been frescoed on a specially laid plaster coating. The typical decorations depicting daily and agricultural life in the Middle Ages are of inestimable archaeological value and provide precious information on this period of Ancient Egypt. These ornaments are particularly remarkable in the tomb of Khnumhotep II, monarch of the 12th dynasty. In the afternoon, sail to Tell El Ammarna.

Tel Al Amarna Assiout Sohag
Breakfast on board and discovery of Tuna el Gebel and Ashmunein. The visit to Tuna el Gebel is... see+ varied, allowing you to admire the facades of several chapels and visit the tomb of Isadora. Back to the boat for lunch, followed by a visit to the Beni Hassan tombs. The site owes its name Beni Hassan to an Arab tribe that settled here in the late 18th century. For obvious topographical reasons, the necropolis was built on the east rather than the west bank of the Nile. In fact, in this area, the Gebel (mountain range) is only about a kilometer from the river, whereas on the west bank, traditionally reserved for the dead, the mountain is much further away. Return to the boat after the visits. Dinner and folk show on board, then sail to Sohag via Assiut.

Breakfast and morning sail to El Balyana to visit the temple of Abydos. Abydos, a sacred site par... see+ excellence dedicated to Osiris, is located 70 km northwest of Thebes. As early as the Old Kingdom, it was associated with Osiris, whose popularity had spread throughout the country. The idea that any Egyptian could become an Osiris quickly spread. Funeral rites hitherto reserved for pharaohs and nobles were extended to all classes of the population, and Osiris became a universal god. Abydos became Osiris' main place of worship, as one of his tombs housed his head. Then, on the west bank of the Nile, at the edge of the desert, a great Ptolemaic temple dedicated to Hathor was built at the temple of Dendarah. The city of which the temple was the heart has disappeared. It was built on the principle of a triple brick enclosure: the enclosures of Hathor's husband, Horus, and her son, Ihy, have almost completely disappeared. All that remains is Hathor's enclosure, almost 300m square, which was the largest of the three and the heart of the sacred edifice. Lunch on board. Afternoon sail to Naga Hamadi. The city of which the temple was the heart has disappeared. Denderah appears to be in an excellent state of preservation. In fact, only part of the temple remains, which was built on the principle of a triple brick enclosure: the enclosures of Hathor's husband, Horus, and her son, Ihy, have almost completely disappeared. All that remains is Hathor's enclosure, almost 300m square, which was the largest of the three and the heart of the sacred edifice. Lunch on board before continuing the cruise to Luxor. Breakfast followed by a visit to the necropolis of Thebes on the west bank of the Nile, followed by... see+ the Valley of the Kings, home to the tombs of many New Kingdom pharaohs, their families and nobles in favor. The tour continues with the Colossi of Memnon, the last vestiges of Amenhotep III's temple, and Deir el Bahari, the funerary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Carved out of the rock in the Theban mountain, this three-tiered temple built in 1455 is both harmonious and modern, and although dedicated to the god Amun, it also contains chapels to Anubis and Hathor, the patron goddess of women: hardly surprising, since Hatshepsut, one of the four pharaohs to have ruled Egypt, is considered “the first great woman whose name has been preserved in history”. Dinner and overnight on board. Optional Karnak sound and light show.

Luxor Esna Edfou
Early morning, after breakfast, visit the southern part of ancient Thebes, with the temples of... see+ Karnak and Luxor. The two temples are linked by a dromos, a long alley lined with sphinxes, and are dedicated to Amun. The three-enclosure temple at Karnak is itself part of the Karnak religious complex, which includes the ruins of other temples, buildings and pylons. Its construction and subsequent modifications spanned more than 2,000 years. Luxor Temple, erected in the 14th century BC during the reign of Amenhotep III, was also subsequently modified by Ramses II, who added six monumental statues and two obelisks. After sightseeing, return to the boat for lunch and sail to Esna. At the end of the day, you'll pass through the lock and enjoy a “Galabia Party” with dinner, then sail on to Edfu and spend the night on board.

Edfou Kom Ombo Assouan
Breakfast on board and morning sail to Edfu. On arrival, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage excursion to... see+ the temple of Edfu, further inland. This temple to the falcon god Horus is both the largest temple of the Ptolemaic dynasty and the second largest sanctuary in Egypt after Karnak. Inside, intact paintings, inscriptions and reliefs make it the best-preserved temple in Egypt. Return to the boat and sail upstream to Kom Ombo. Lunch on board, followed by a visit to the temple of Kom-Ombo, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris. Built on a hill by three Ptolemies. The temple is surrounded by a wall covered with reliefs. Inside, the space is divided into two parts: the northern one dedicated to Haroeris, the hawk-headed god, and the southern one to Sobek, the crocodile god. Return to the boat and sail to Aswan. Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, departure for the Temple of Isis on the island of Philae. Begun by Pharaoh... see+ Nectanebo I during Dynasty 30 and completed by the Romans, this is the main sanctuary dedicated to Isis. After Philae, the visit continues with the High Dam and the unfinished obelisk. The Aswan region, rich in schist, alabaster and pink granite found only in this part of Egypt, provided the stone blocks for the pyramids, statues and colossi built by the pharaohs. In the granite quarry you'll find the tallest obelisk known to date (41.75m), which was abandoned due to a crack in the rock. Return to the boat for lunch, followed by a felucca ride around Elephantine Island, once a fortress. In the evening, optional sound and light show at the Temple of Philae. Dinner and overnight on board.
