Cairo is the capital of Egypt, also known as Umm al-Dunya ("Mother of the World"). It is the most populous city in Africa. Despite its somewhat dilapidated appearance, which gives the impression of having traveled back in time, one quickly becomes attached to the charm of Cairo and its inhabitants. The capital is the first stop on your trip to Egypt, where you will discover its cultural treasures... Transfer to the hotel. Check-in and overnight stay at the hotel. From the 18th dynasty onwards, and throughout the New Kingdom, the pharaohs were no longer buried in temples or monuments dedicated to their final journey. It was on the other side of the Nile, on the west bank, the land of the Afterlife, that Thutmose I and all the pharaohs who succeeded him decided to be buried. Gone were the colossal monuments such as the pyramids, and even the mastabas used during the Old Kingdom, replaced by tombs carved into the rock, whose entrances were carefully sealed and camouflaged. The main motivation was undoubtedly to escape tomb robbers.

The funerary temple of Ramses III is the most accomplished example of monumental art under the Ramessids. The last great builder of ancient Egypt, the pharaoh undertook the reopening of the major construction sites abandoned since Ramses II, and built the vast royal temple of Medinet Habu, south of the Theban necropolis.
Ramses III had his Castle of Millions of Years built, the most significant complex of ancient Egyptian ruins after Karnak, on the site of one of the earliest centers of the Theban religion, closely associated with the cult of Amun. Stop at the Colossi of Memnon, the only funerary monuments of Amenhotep III. Known for their imposing architecture, these ruins have been visited by emperors and travelers throughout the ages. Standing 18 meters high and weighing 1,300 mastheads, they were named the Colossi of Memnon by the Greeks because of the legend of the Oracle of Memnon. Lunch on board. After breakfast on board, enjoy a moment of relaxation on the boat as we sail to Edfu.
On... see+ arrival, lunch on board before setting off to discover the majestic Ptolemaic Temple of Horus, one of the best preserved in ancient Egypt. Built from 237 BC under Ptolemy III and completed almost two centuries later under Ptolemy XII, it rests on the foundations of an earlier temple dedicated to Thutmes III. This sanctuary is dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god and son of Isis and Osiris. As soon as you enter, the great pylon impresses with its immense reliefs representing the king and the gods, while two majestic black granite falcons, symbolising Horus, stand guard.
After this immersion in history, return on board for the sail to Kom Ombo.

Kom Ombo Assouan
After breakfast on board, departure for a visit to the Ptolemaic Temple of Kom Ombo, a sanctuary... see+ unique in ancient Egypt in that it combines two temples into one. Built in the Ptolemaic period on the remains of a New Kingdom temple, it stands on a hill overlooking the majestic Nile.
Its distinctive feature lies in its dual cult: on one side, Haroëris, ‘Horus the Elder’, the falcon god, and on the other, Sobek, the crocodile god. This duality is perfectly illustrated by the architecture of the temple, with its two entrances, two parallel corridors and two perfectly symmetrical sanctuaries. At the entrance, the sculpted columns still retain their bright colours, while a chapel dedicated to Hathor houses crocodile mummies, a reminder of the importance of the cult of Sobek.
After this immersion in history, sail to Aswan, capital of Nubia.
Lunch on board, followed by a visit to the Temple of Philae, a jewel of antiquity located on the island of Agilka and nicknamed the ‘Pearl of the Nile’. This sanctuary, entirely dedicated to Isis, was saved from the waters thanks to a huge rescue operation carried out by UNESCO in the 1960s, after the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
The day continues with a visit to a papyrus institute and a jewellery shop, where you can discover the refined art of ancient Egypt through creations in gold, silver and semi-precious stones.
Return on board for dinner and overnight.

An... see+ exceptional site located 260 km south of Aswan, this great temple was saved by UNESCO in 1969. The colossi of Ramses, the largest in Egypt, carved into the cliff face and dedicated to the most famous gods of Pharaonic Egypt: AMON RE, RAMSES, and PTAH.

Stop at Kitchener Island and visit its famous botanical garden, where the most beautiful varieties of plants and trees attract a multitude of birds. The day begins with breakfast on the side of the boat, followed by a free morning, ideal for... see+ relaxing and enjoying the boat's facilities. At lunchtime, a delicious meal is served on the side of the boat before setting off to explore the majestic Temple of Karnak. This sanctuary, the most theological ever built, has seen a succession of Egypt's greatest kings, such as Sethi I, Ramses II, Thutmose III, and Ramses III, paying homage to the god Amun for over 2,000 years. Its current name, "Karnak," meaning "fortress," dates back to the Islamic conquest.
Optionally, the tour continues with the Temple of Luxor (included in the "EXCURSION PACKAGE 1" package), built to glorify the god Amun Ra. Every year, a large procession linked this temple to that of Karnak to celebrate the symbolic marriage of Amun to his wife Mut. Built during the reigns of Amenhotep III and Ramses II, it was once adorned with two monumental obelisks, one of which was given to France in 1831 by Mehemet Ali and now stands in the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
After this fascinating immersion in Pharaonic history, return to the boat for an evening of comfort and relaxation, with a refined dinner followed by a peaceful night on the side of the boat.

After lunch served on board, passengers are transferred to Luxor airport, depending on flight times. Assistance is provided with check-in and boarding formalities before take-off for Cairo. The evening continues with a delicious dinner, before a restful night at the hotel, marking the end of a day of transition between Luxor and the Egyptian capital.

The museum houses a collection of Egyptian artifacts from different periods of Egyptian civilization. It is estimated to contain more than 100,000 objects, at least 20,000 of which are on display for the first time.
The complete collection of Tutankhamun's treasure is on display for the first time in one place: 5,398 pieces presented in a dedicated 7,500 m² space. Lunch.
Visit to the citadel of Saladin el Awouby and the Mosque of Mehmet Ali (built between 1830 and 1849, it is so white that it is nicknamed the "Alabaster Mosque") with a large clock in the center of the courtyard, a gift from King Louis Philippe of France to Mehmet Ali. Its Belvedere offers a panoramic view of the city of Cairo.
Stroll through the souks of Khan el Khalili. Built in the 14th century, this colorful bazaar displays folk goods made of copper, wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl, clothing embroidered with pearls and gold and silver thread, and a selection of oriental handicrafts. The day begins with breakfast before exploring the Giza plateau, the symbol of ancient Egypt. Here... see+ you will discover the pyramids of Kheops, the most imposing, Khephren, which appears higher because of its location, and Mykerinos, which is more modest. Opposite them, the Sphinx, carved from a single block, has watched over these monuments for millennia.
After lunch with a view of the pyramids, the tour continues to Memphis, the former Pharaonic capital, where a few remains remain, including an alabaster sphinx. Then on to Saqqara, a vast necropolis housing the Step Pyramid of Djeser, the first attempt at a pyramid in history.
In the evening, return to the hotel for dinner and a final break before departure. Depending on the schedule, the night is spent at the hotel or on board the plane, bringing a fascinating day in Egypt to a close.
