Arrive in Mainz early in the morning. Discover the city with our animation team. Located on the... see+ banks of the Rhine and facing the mouth of the Rhine, Mainz is the city of Gutenberg, inventor of the printing press. You'll have the chance to discover Mainz's thousand-year-old cathedral for yourself, as well as Gutenberg Square and its surroundings.
In the afternoon, optional excursion: panoramic tour of Frankfurt and climb to the Main Tower. During a panoramic tour, you'll admire the gigantic skyscrapers that house the headquarters of numerous banks and form the city's famous profile, the Skyline, rising into an azure sky. You'll have the chance to climb the Main Tower, the city's best-known skyscraper, made entirely of glass after the American model. It's these slender buildings that give Frankfurt its nickname of “Mainhattan”. From the 200m-high viewing platform, you'll have a breathtaking view of the city. Meanwhile, the boat sails back to Frankfurt, where we join it. Continuation of the night sail to Miltenberg. Night sailing.

Continuation on the Main to Wertheim, at the confluence of the Tauber and Main rivers. Arrive in the afternoon and explore Wertheim at your leisure. In the old town's maze of winding streets, you'll see typical half-timbered houses, fountains and pink sandstone statues, all on the water's edge. Return on board and continue to Würzburg. Early morning arrival in Würzburg. Optional excursion: guided tour of Würzburg. Departure by... see+ coach for the center of Würzburg. The tour begins at the Residenz, the former palace of the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg. You'll discover 40 rooms richly decorated with furniture, paintings and tapestries by 18th-century masters, and take the monumental Great Staircase designed by Balthasar Neumann. You'll also visit the Imperial Hall, in Baroque style, and the grand apartments, richly decorated in Rococo style. The tour continues in the direction of the city center, before returning to the ship by coach. Return on board. Free afternoon to discover Würzburg at your own pace. The city is full of sights and sounds, and you'll be amazed by its Baroque architecture and its unique Mediterranean atmosphere. Return on board for dinner and continue to Schweinfurt. Accompanied by a local guide, you'll discover the 15th-century ramparts, the hospital bastion, the market square with the town hall and the famous St. Jacob's church (exterior), featuring three altars sculpted by the famous Tilman Riemenschneider. Before heading to Regensburg, you'll take the coach to the Walhalla, an imposing Greek-style marble temple overlooking the Danube, erected between 1830 and 1842 by order of Ludwig I of Bavaria as a memorial to the great men of German civilization. Inside the temple, you'll find 129 busts of Germanic personalities: artists, soldiers, etc. Then, in the company of your guides, you'll take a walking tour of Regensburg and discover the imposing “Porta Praetoria”, the north gate of the ancient Roman city, the town hall with the “Imperial Hall”, the Gothic cathedral and the houses of the wealthy merchants of the Italian-influenced Middle Ages. The level of preservation of medieval buildings in Regensburg is excellent, as the city suffered very little from Allied bombing during the Second World War. Lively evening. A prestigious court center in the 18th century, the castle's ochre facade is closely linked to the dual Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The splendid edifice is home to eminently refined imperial furnishings, and the Habsburg spirit watches over the dazzling residence. Then take a panoramic tour of the famous boulevard known as “the Ring”. You'll see the exceptional monuments built between 1830 and 1890 that give it its unique atmosphere. In the afternoon, optional excursion: visit to the Hofburg (pre-booking required before departure). Located in the historic heart of Vienna, the Hofburg is an astonishing sight. It exudes the sense of excess and splendor associated with imperial power. Nevertheless, it is a fascinating place for history and architecture enthusiasts. Panoramic tour and climb to the Main Tower
Frankfurt has been nicknamed Mainhattan in reference to the river that runs through it and its status as Germany's financial and commercial capital. During a panoramic tour, you can admire the gigantic skyscrapers that house the headquarters of many banks and... see+ form the city's famous skyline, rising up into the blue sky. You will have the opportunity to climb the Main Tower, the city's most famous skyscraper, made entirely of glass, based on the American model. From the 200-meter-high viewing platform, you will have a breathtaking view of the city stretching out at your foot. NOTES WEAR APPROPRIATE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT. The order of visits may be changed. Tour of Würzburg and the Residenz
Depart by bus with your guide for the center of Würzburg. You will begin your tour at the Residenz, the former palace of the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg. Begun in 1720 on the initiative of Prince-Bishop Friedrich Carl von Schönborn and completed... see+ in 1780, this building was intended to replace the old Marienberg Fortress. You will discover 40 rooms richly decorated with furniture, paintings, and tapestries by 18th-century masters, and you will walk up the monumental grand staircase, which was designed by Balthasar Neumann. Among other things , you will visit the Baroque-style imperial hall, whose frescoes were painted by the Italian artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, and the state apartments, richly decorated in the Rococo style. You will continue the tour towards the city center, where you will have some free time before returning to the boat by bus. NOTES Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Ratisbon, known as Regensburg in German, reached its political and economic peak in the 12th and 13th centuries, when it was located at the crossroads of major trade routes and became a free imperial city in 1245, before being supplanted by other large... see+ Bavarian cities. The city has preserved its medieval center almost intact, as it was largely not touched by Allied bombing due to its low level of industrialization. Before heading to Regensburg, you will travel by bus with the ship's hostess to the Walhalla, an imposing Greek-style marble temple overlooking the Danube, built between 1830 and 1842 on the orders of Louis I of Bavaria, who wanted to make it a memorial to the great men who illustrated German civilization. Inside the temple, you will find 129 busts of German personalities: artists, military figures, and more. Accompanied by your guides, you will visit Regensburg on foot and discover the imposing " Porta Praetoria," the northern gate of the ancient Roman city; the town hall with its "imperial hall"; the Gothic cathedral; and the houses of wealthy merchants from the Middle Ages, influenced by Italian architecture. Visit to the Hofburg
Depart by bus with your guides to the Hofburg. The Hofburg is also known for having been the "winter residence" of the Habsburgs for close to 600 years. During their reign, they transformed a small 13th-century fortress into a huge and magnificent palace.... see+ Today, most of the buildings house museums, and the gardens, dotted with monuments, have become the Volksgarten and Burggarten. Take the imperial staircase to reach the Sissi Museum. Six rooms in the Hofburg have been converted to house the museum, which focuses mainly on Elisabeth's private life, highlighted by her poems that reveal her personality. You can admire many personal items that belonged to the empress, as well as a reproduction of the dress she wore at her farewell ball on the occasion of her engagement. Also on display are the most famous portraits, the beautiful empress's jewelry, and a partial reproduction of the luxurious carriage converted into a salon. You will arrive in the imperial apartments and have access to the 19 official and private rooms of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth. The imperial apartments bear witness to the splendor of the monarchy. Among other things, you will see the emperor's audience chamber, his study, and his bedroom. Then you will visit the empress's apartments, with her salon, her dressing room, and her exercise room, where the empress did a great deal of physical exercise every day. Return to the boat by bus.
