A... see+ prestigious court center in the 18th century, the castle's ochre facade is closely linked to the dual Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The splendid edifice is home to eminently refined imperial furnishings, and the spirit of the Habsburgs watches over the dazzling residence. Then take a panoramic tour of the famous boulevard known as "the Ring". You'll see the exceptional monuments built between 1830 and 1890 that give it its unique atmosphere.
- Experience Vienna as the Viennese do. Go behind the scenes at the Konzerthaus. Discover one of Vienna's most important concert venues, the famous Konzerthaus. Inaugurated in 1913 by Emperor Franz Joseph, the Konzerthaus has since evolved from tradition and innovation to become one of the most popular venues for musical ensembles (a visit to the Konzerthaus may be replaced by a visit to the Musikverein, or the opera house in case of performances or unavailability). You'll then head off to one of the city's many cafés for a cup of Viennese coffee. You'll have to go back to imperial times to discover its origins. In harsh winters, carriage drivers used to drink a hot cup of coffee topped with whipped cream between each run, to keep them going. The "coachman's coffee" or "Einspänner" was later named Viennese coffee outside Austria.
In the afternoon, free time OR optional out-of-package excursion: horse-drawn carriage tour of Vienna. A fun and original way to see Vienna. Let the rhythm of the horses guide you through the city, plunging you into the heart of its history. Frankfurt guided tour
The excursion to Frankfurt will begin with a panoramic bus tour of the city. Frankfurt am Main, the metropolis at the heart of Europe, fascinates with its clever mix of tradition and modernity, commerce and culture, activity and relaxation. Cosmopolitan... see+ Frankfurt owes its global status to its international trade fairs, such as the International Motor Show and the Book Fair, to business and cultural life, and to its privileged geographical location. It is also considered the financial capital of Germany, as its gigantic skyscrapers are home to the headquarters of numerous banks, which is why it is sometimes nicknamed "Bankfurt" or "Mainhattan." You will continue your tour of the old town by foot. You will pass by the Imperial Cathedral (exterior), which dominates the city center from the top of its 95-meter tower. You will also discover the heart of Frankfurt's old town and the Römerberg, which has a history dating back to the Hohenstaufen era. Originally, this square was simply called Berg (Mountain) or Samstagsberg (Saturday Mountain). The Römerberg has had its current name since the 15th century, when the city council bought the houses surrounding the square to build a new town hall. Tour of Würzburg and the Residenz
Depart by bus with your guide for the center of Würzburg. You will begin your tour at the Residenz, the former palace of the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg. Begun in 1720 on the initiative of Prince-Bishop Friedrich Carl von Schönborn and completed... see+ in 1780, this building was intended to replace the old Marienberg Fortress. The city has preserved its medieval center almost intact, as it was largely not touched by Allied bombing due to its low level of industrialization. Before heading to Regensburg, you will travel by bus with the ship's hostess to the Walhalla, an imposing Greek-style marble temple overlooking the Danube, built between 1830 and 1842 on the orders of Louis I of Bavaria, who wanted to make it a memorial to the great men who illustrated German civilization. Vienna city tour
Meet up with the guides for a foot tour of Vienne, during which you can discover this Roman city rich in historical remains. Vienne's history dates back more than 2,000 years. The city is inseparable from the Rhône River and the hills that surround it.... see+ The Allobroges people made it their capital, but it was during the Roman era that Vienne began to prosper on both banks of the river. You will see the ancient theater, built around 40-50 AD, which is considered one of the most important of Roman antiquity, with a diameter of 130 m and a capacity at the time estimated at 13,000 spectators. Restored in 1938, it has regained its original function as a venue for artistic events. You will continue on to the Temple of Augustus and Livia (exterior). Named as such since the end of the 18th century, this temple, dedicated to the cult of Rome and Augustus, stood in a sacred area on the forum.
