Excursion included: visit to the sumptuous Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. Commissioned by Nicolas Fouquet, it was designed by a team of great artists: architect Le Vau, painter Le Brun and landscape architect André Le Nôtre. They combined their genius to build a model whose majesty and balance inspired Louis XIV at Versailles and then the whole of Europe for over a century. Explore the ceremonial salons and basements, and admire the exceptional works of art on display at the château. Return on board. Evening at leisure.

Afternoon excursion includes a visit to the village of Barbizon, nestled comfortably against the western edge of the Fontainebleau forest. In the 19th century, this unpretentious hamlet quickly became a favorite haunt of landscape painters such as Théodore Rousseau and Jean-François Millet, important figures of the famous Barbizon School. Stroll along the cobbled streets and push open the doors of the small boutiques and art galleries! Return on board.

Afternoon excursion includes a visit to the Château de Fontainebleau and its gardens. The château has played host to all the major sovereigns of France. It is a unique example of a residence regularly inhabited for 8 centuries. The formal gardens, fountains and parterre will remind you of the palace's glory days. A visit to the town of Fontainebleau, with its facades of old mansions built during the various stays of the court, will complete your tour. Return on board. Evening at leisure.

Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne Cannes-Ecluses
Moret-Loing-et-OrvanneMorning, excursion included: guided tour of Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne. Located... see+ on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest, this royal town is famous for its barley sugar and landscapes immortalized by Impressionist Alfred Sisley. Discover the fortified medieval gates, the superb Renaissance facades, the banks of the Loing and the Notre-Dame church. After the visit, free time to stroll around the town at your own pace, and don't hesitate to visit the barley sugar store, a sweet and delicate flavor created during the reign of Louis XIII in Moret.
In the afternoon, sail to Cannes-Ecluses. Evening at leisure, enjoy a stroll through this pleasant little town on the banks of the Yonne.

In the afternoon, excursion included: discover the city... see+ of Sens. Sens is home to a number of remarkable buildings, both architecturally and historically. Sens Cathedral, the first Gothic cathedral, and the town hall, witness to the triumphant Republic at the beginning of the last century, are marvellous examples. As you stroll along the streets and promenades, you'll notice houses, buildings and sections of wall bearing witness to this rich past. Take a stroll through the town's covered market and sample local produce. Return on board.

This charming village is one of the mythical sites of pre-impressionist painting in France. As early as 1830, what was still a lumberjack's hamlet welcomed at the Auberge Ganne all the painters who came here in search of inspiration from unspoiled nature.... see+ They find their subjects in the countryside or in the nearby forest of Fontainebleau. You'll follow the painters' trail in the footsteps of Corot, Millet, Rousseau and many others. Then you'll visit the painters' museum housed in the Ganne inn, where you'll discover the ground-floor rooms, dining rooms and grocery store. Furniture and panels decorated by the artists and everyday objects have been repositioned to recreate the 19th-century atmosphere. In particular, you can admire the fresco on wood, a collective work by Théodore Rousseau, Narcisse Diaz, Célestin Nanteuil and Louis Godefroy Jadin.
