The monastery's impressive building is set in landscaped grounds in the heart of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. It is one of the most important historic buildings of early Gothic brick architecture in Brandenburg. Built in 1273 as a monastery for the Margrave of Brandenburg, its forms and ornamentation are reminiscent of the great cathedrals of Cologne, Paris and Siena. In the 19th century, architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel played a key role in the building's preservation. Return on board to Mescherin and continue sailing to Szczecin. Arrival in the evening. Szczecin Wolgast
Optional excursion: Szczecin. The crossroads of Western and Eastern Europe, of Scandinavia and... see+ Southern Europe, has been here for centuries. You'll discover the courtyard of the Duke of Pomerania's castle, from which you can enjoy a superb view of the city. Badly damaged during the war, the castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance style of the late 16th century. You'll see St. John's Basilica, the former town hall, one of Szczecin's most beautiful buildings and the only vestige of the old town, razed to the ground in 1945. A succession of stylized bourgeois houses, recently erected behind the town hall, form a striking contrast with the concrete blocks of the Communist era.Afternoon sailing to Wolgast. The trip continues along the Oder, the Szczecin lagoon and the Peenestrom estuary, before reaching Wolgast in the evening.

Wolgast Greifswald Usedom Lauterbach
Optional morning excursion: Greifswald. The historic heart of the city is a jewel of Hanseatic... see+ architecture, with its ochre, red, blue and white monuments. It is the only intact Hanseatic city in Germany. It's also a traditional university town, where the Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich was born and studied. You'll see the city's great churches, Little Jacob, Big Mary and the Great Nicholas Cathedral, the town hall and Greifswald's oldest neo-Gothic pharmacy, dating from the 16th century. Return on board and set sail for Peenemünde, which we reach in the early afternoon.Optional excursion: the island of Usedom. Hardly anywhere else can you admire so many different landforms in such a small space: beaches on the Baltic Sea and coasts facing the mainland, lakes and peat bogs, dunes, pine or beech forests and seaside resorts form a mosaic that's surprising in its diversity. The seaside resorts of Ahlbeck and Heringsdorf are known as the “Kaiserbäder” (emperor's baths), being the favorite vacation spots of Emperor Wilhelm II. Return on board. Gala evening. Sailing to Lauterbach. Overnight stopover.

Lauterbach Rügen Stralsund
In the morning, optional excursion: the island of Rügen. This jewel of the Baltic offers... see+ unparalleled diversity: cliffs, jetties, capes, white sandy beaches, pine forests, architecture, etc. You'll see Putbus, nicknamed the White City or “Rosenstadt” because of the rose bushes adorning the facades of its historic buildings. The Jasmund National Park is particularly famous for its “Stubbenkammer”, chalk and granite cliffs made famous by the world-famous painting by Caspar David Friedrich. Then on to the seaside resort of Binz, where you can take a stroll along the pier or along the long promenade set back slightly from the square, lined with beautiful late 19th-century houses. Return on board and sail to Stralsund.
In the afternoon, optional excursion: Stralsund. The medieval town of Stralsund was an important trading center of the Hanseatic League in the 14th and 15th centuries. In particular, it contributed to the development of the Baltic region's characteristic “brick Gothic” building types and construction techniques. The Stralsund town hall is a fine example of this typical architecture. Other highlights include St. Nicholas Church, St. Jacob's Church and St. Catherine's Monastery. The old town is protected in its entirety as an area of historic value, offering visitors a unique example of the cultural heritage of the Hanseatic League.
