In the shadow of the building, medieval Mainz stretches out, where life bustles in its narrow, winding streets, amid the many small shops and cafés surrounding the charming Kirschgarten and its half-timbered houses. Impressive sites such as the 56-meter-high "Runde Turm" (round tower), St. Mary's Cathedral, the old crane on the banks of the Rhine, the mikveh, and the remarkably well-preserved city walls await you as you stroll through the city.
In the afternoon, we will arrive in Cologne. In the historic center, you will discover numerous monuments, fountains, and archaeological sites. Cologne's Roman past and Jewish history in the Middle Ages have been unearthed at the Rathausplatz site. Another must-see in the old town is Cologne Cathedral, one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in the world. Guided foot tour. In the evening, captain's dinner. Night on board.
