Optional excursion: visit to Melk Abbey. A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, the abbey dominates... see+ the splendid Wachau valley. The ochre color of the grandiose façade is reminiscent of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Inside, the abbey boasts magnificent Baroque frescoes and a library containing almost 100,000 volumes, including some of the most precious manuscripts of the Middle Ages. Return on board and sail through the magnificent Wachau Valley to Dürnstein, arriving early afternoon. Free time in this small medieval town, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its architectural heritage. The village is packed with sights, including the elegant baroque bell tower of the Dürnstein church, the medieval and Renaissance facades of the town hall and the colorful houses in the main alley.
Continuation to Vienna. In the evening, optional excursion: visit Vienna "by night". A veritable open-air museum, you'll discover the capital in all its glory. The illuminated facades reveal all their splendor. The Musikverein takes on a whole new dimension under these illuminations, while the opera house reveals its interior decorations through light effects. On Schwarzenbergplatz, you'll see the gilded bronze statue of Johann Strauss, and many other monuments, such as the Hofburg Palace and the Augustinian Church. Enjoy another face of Vienna.

A prestigious center of the court in the 18th century, the palace features an ochre façade closely linked to the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy. The splendid building houses exquisitely refined imperial furnishings, and the spirit of the Habsburgs watches over this dazzling residence. You will then take a panoramic tour of the famous boulevard known as "the Ring." You will see the exceptional monuments built between 1830 and 1890 that give it its unique atmosphere.

Free time to explore Esztergom, the ancient Hungarian capital with its charm intact. Set on a hill,... see+ the city stretches peacefully along the banks of the Danube. The town has many unsuspected treasures, including the elegant basilica, whose 177-meter-high silhouette dominates the river, and the historic center of colorful houses.

Afternoon sailing to Budapest. In the evening, optional excursion: visit Budapest "by night". The lights brighten up the facades of the monuments, providing a spectacular backdrop. You'll see the Parliament, where the buttresses, towers and dome are highlighted by clever lighting; the Chain Bridge, with Buda Castle illuminated in the background; and the Fishermen's Bastion, with its seven towers paying tribute to the seven tribes that founded Hungary. From here, you have a superb view of illuminated Pest.

Enjoy a panoramic tour between the hills of Buda and the plains of Pest... Then, you will travel along the river where you can admire the parliament building overlooking the Danube. Return to the ship.
Free afternoon OR optional excursions: - Visit to the Széchenyi Baths. Drive to this vast thermal complex. Nestled in the heart of Budapest, the Széchenyi Baths are a true architectural gem in the neo-baroque style. A brief tour will allow you to discover the baths before you enjoy the indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, and steam rooms, or relax in a steamy pool. So don't forget your swimsuits, this is a unique opportunity. Return to the boat. Or - visit the Budapest market halls. Walk to the Budapest market halls. With its sparkling Zsolnay tile roof, Budapest's Great Central Market is the largest market hall built in the 19th century. You will discover an incredible array of diverse and varied products, including the famous paprika garlands. A tasting of local sweet specialties will round off your visit. Return to the boat by foot.

Activities

Departure by bus accompanied by the boat's hostess toMelk Abbey. The abbey guides will meet you in the inner courtyard to begin the tour. Overlooking the Danube, the abbey, which has been home to Benedictine monks for 900 years, was originally built as a... see+ fortified castle for the Babenberg family. The abbey was founded in the 11th century and the current Benedictine abbey buildings date from the Baroque period and are the work of architect Jakob Prandtauer. Melk Abbey houses a museum where you will discover various exhibits that have been brought to life through architecture, sound and light, and the use of various media. Computer animations tell the story of how the buildings were constructed. You will also visit the library and the marble hall, true gems of Baroque architecture. Return to the side of the boat by bus. NOTES Wear comfortable shoes: there is a staircase and 500m of paved path to walk from the bus parking lot to the abbey entrance. Depending on the cruise, the visit may take place in the afternoon or the morning. Proper attire is required. Depending on the sailing schedule, passengers will have some free time. Discover Vienna by night on a panoramic bus tour. Vienna, a city with two thousand years of history, is a veritable open-air museum. Vienna embodies Romanticism and exudes a sense of power thanks to its architecture and numerous monuments. You will travel... see+ along the famous Ringstrasse, which marks the boundaries of historic Vienna on the right bank of the Danube. You will pass a multitude of buildings from the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy: the opera house, City Hall, the Hofburg Palace, and numerous official buildings. You will stop at Schwarzenberplatz, where the monument to Johann Strauss is located. Then you will stroll through the Albertina district, where you can admire the Hofburg Palace, the winter residence of the Habsburgs and now the Sissi Museum, and the Augustinian Church, where the wedding of Franz Joseph and Sissi was celebrated. You will begin the tour by taking the famous Ring to Schönbrunn Palace. The Ring was one of Emperor Franz Joseph's personal projects. In 1857, he decided to dismantle the ramparts surrounding the city center and build a boulevard lined with beautiful... see+ buildings. Along the Ring, you will admire this architectural showcase of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy, including the State Opera House, the Hofburg Palace, the Natural History Museum, City Hall, and the Burgtheater. Once you arrive at Schönbrunn Palace, you will be guided through the many rooms of the Habsburgs' summer residence, which bear witness to the splendor of court life during the reign of Maria Theresa. You will also have some free time to stroll through the palace gardens. You will then board the bus, which will take you to the city center to enjoy some free time near St. Stephen's Cathedral. Depart by foot for Budapest's market halls. Budapest's Great Central Market Hall is the largest and most spectacular of the five market halls built in the 19th century. Under its sparkling roof of colorful Zsolnay tiles with zigzag patterns, it houses more... see+ than 180 stalls on three levels. Some locals travel for hours by tram to come to the Központi Vásárcsarnok. On the ground floor, there is an incredible display of food products, from fruit and vegetables to charcuterie and garlands of paprika.
