Upon your arrival in Ilulissat, you’ll discover one of the Arctic’s most iconic destinations.... see+ Nicknamed the “Ice Capital,” this town is world-renowned for its spectacular Ilulissat Icefjord, where massive icebergs drift for more than 70 kilometers before reaching Disko Bay.

Ilulissat Eqi Glacier
The fjord is fed by the mighty Sermeq Kujalleq Glacier, which is approximately 160 kilometers long... see+ and considered one of the most active glaciers in the Northern Hemisphere. Its advance, which can reach nearly 30 meters per day, gives rise to impressive icebergs that offer a constant spectacle. This exceptional site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During your stay, you’ll visit the museums in Ilulissat to learn about the region’s history, Inuit culture, and the golden age of polar exploration.
The excursion continues to the spectacular Eqi Glacier, renowned for its particularly active glacier front, where impressive calving events can be observed. This site is also steeped in history, as Paul-Émile Victor and the French Polar Expeditions established one of their main research camps there in the mid-20th century. Amid monumental glaciers, icebergs, and scientific heritage, these first two days offer a spectacular immersion in Greenland’s landscapes.

Eqi Glacier Melville Bay
The ship enters the spectacular iceberg corridor, a veritable labyrinth of ice where immense blocks... see+ drift from several glaciers fed by the Greenland ice sheet and the Melville Bay region.
As you sail along, you’ll pass these impressive “ice cathedrals,” their shapes sculpted by the wind and currents. In the deep waters of the open sea, keep your eyes peeled: it’s not uncommon to spot whales swimming among the icebergs, while numerous seabirds accompany the ship.
To the east, the vast Greenland Ice Sheet dominates the horizon. This gigantic ice sheet, which covers nearly 80% of Greenland’s territory, produces between 30,000 and 40,000 icebergs each year, making this region one of the largest ice reservoirs on the planet.
This day at sea offers a spectacular sight, set against the backdrop of Greenland’s most iconic landscapes, featuring glaciers, monumental icebergs, and Arctic marine wildlife.

Melville Bay Upernavik Nuussuaq
Head north from Upernavik into the wilderness regions of Red Head and Kullorsuaq, renowned for... see+ their vast ice fields and spectacular landscapes.
Throughout the day, you’ll alternate between cruising aboard the ship and Zodiac excursions to explore the vast iceberg fields off Greenland’s west coast close-hauled. The majestic Nutarssuaq and Igdluligssuaq glaciers, fed directly by the ice cap, are among the most active in the region. Their impressive ice fronts regularly give birth to gigantic icebergs that drift slowly through the fjords.
This region is also a prime habitat for Arctic wildlife. Depending on conditions, you may spot seals resting on the ice, whales swimming in the deep waters, and, with a little luck, catch a glimpse of a polar bear roaming the icy expanses.
The day concludes with a visit to the small village of Nuussuaq, a community of about sixty houses where hunting and fishing traditions still play an essential role in the daily lives of the residents. This stop offers an authentic glimpse into life in one of Greenland’s most remote regions.

Nuussuaq Savissivik
The expedition reaches Savissivik, one of Greenland’s northernmost communities. Nestled among... see+ icebergs, this small village is home to an Inuit population that carries on hunting traditions—particularly seal and narwhal hunting—that have been adapted over centuries to the extreme conditions of the Arctic.
The voyage continues to the spectacular Cape York, located at the northwestern tip of Melville Bay. This wilderness is dominated by majestic glacier fronts that plunge directly into the sea, offering one of Greenland’s most impressive icy landscapes.
A hike takes you to the monument dedicated to Robert Peary, an iconic figure in polar exploration whose expeditions have left an indelible mark on the history of this region.
The waters and ice around Cape York are also renowned for their exceptional wildlife diversity. With a little luck, you’ll be able to spot cetaceans swimming in the open sea as well as the iconic polar bear, the undisputed master of these vast, icy expanses. Savissivik Dundas
The ship makes a stop in Dundas, a historic site considered the birthplace of ancient Thule.... see+ Located near the famous Pituffik Space Station—a former strategic base established during the Cold War—this place bears witness to both the history of the Inuit peoples and the major geopolitical issues of the Arctic.
You’ll explore the ruins of the ancient Inuit village, where geographer and explorer Jean Malaurie conducted the research that inspired his famous book *The Last Kings of Thule*. This site is also closely linked to Knud Rasmussen, one of the greatest Arctic explorers, who established his trading post here before launching several major expeditions across the Far North.
Combining Inuit heritage, the history of polar exploration, and spectacular ice-dominated landscapes, this stopover offers a unique immersion in one of the most iconic locations in northwestern Greenland.

Dundas Thulé
The expedition continues north of the former Thule region, in one of Greenland’s most isolated... see+ and wildest areas. This leg of the voyage is dedicated to observing Arctic wildlife and exploring ice-dominated landscapes.
The ship is heading toward Etah, a historic site that for centuries served as an important waystation for various Inuit cultures during their migrations across the High Arctic. This region also serves as a gateway to the pack ice and the immense glaciers of northern Greenland.
Depending on ice conditions, the expedition will approach the spectacular Humboldt Glacier, whose impressive glacier front stretches nearly 110 kilometers, making it one of the largest glaciers in Greenland that flows directly into the sea.
These wild lands are home to iconic Arctic wildlife. The Inuit traditionally hunt narwhals, walruses, and musk oxen here, while polar bears are regular visitors to the ice fields. Amid pack ice, monumental glaciers, and the vast polar expanses, these days offer an exceptional immersion into the heart of Greenland’s Far North.
