Morning optional excursions:
- Authentic: guided tour of San Marco Basilica. With its... see+ oriental-style domes, flamboyantly crowned tympanums, polychrome marble and mosaics, the Basilica of San Marco is a jewel of unprecedented delicacy and richness when the midday sun reveals every detail. You'll discover sumptuous decorations, with mosaics on a gold background depicting events from the entire history of Christianity.
- Experience: the Dorsoduro district. Depart on foot for one of Venice's most pleasant districts. It's the only part of the city that was built on dry land rather than marshland. Our walk will take you along the Zattere quay to the Santo Spirito church and the customs house. You'll see the church of Santa Maria della Salute (exterior), a masterpiece of Venetian Baroque. The Academy Bridge with its galleries. You'll stop in the heart of Dorsoduro, a chic district where numerous palaces overlook the Grand Canal. Return to the boat on foot.
A short sail across the Venetian lagoon takes you to Mazzorbo. In the early afternoon, explore the island of Burano, world-famous for its lace and the colorful little houses that line the canals of this fishing village.
Optional authentic excursion/experience: discover the island of Murano. Departure by private boat to the island of Murano, famous for its glass production. Visit a workshop to see a glass-blowing demonstration.
Sail back to Venice.

Optional authentic excursion/experience: gourmet walk in Venice and its hidden neighborhoods. Taste... see+ the flavors of Venice on this guided walking tour. Your first stop, at one of the most famous "pasticcerias", will allow you to enjoy a delicious cappuccino accompanied by an assortment of typical Venetian cookies. Stroll through the San Polo district, the oldest part of the city, where the famous Rialto(2) market has been held for almost a thousand years. You'll be immersed in the characteristic atmosphere of this market, where fresh fruit and vegetables take pride of place. A meeting place for the inhabitants of the lagoon city who come here to do their shopping, you'll discover a relaxed atmosphere and an ideal place to discover Venice's culture and culinary traditions. The liveliest part of the market is undoubtedly the fish market. The stalls are often colorful and attractive, with fish and seafood arranged in such a way as to arouse the interest of shoppers. Afterwards, you'll head to a typical "osteria" and discover Venetian gastronomy as you sample the little tapas known as "cicchetti", a culinary specialty originating in Italy and very popular in Venice.
Return on board.

Morning sail to Chioggia. You'll cross the Venetian lagoon, a vast enclosed basin stretching 48 km.... see+ Since the dawn of time, visitors have been captivated by its bewitching and enchanting panoramas. To the south, a spit of land known as the Lido protects the lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. Late morning arrival in Chioggia, gateway to the Adriatic Sea.
In the afternoon, optional authentic excursion/experience: visit Padua, city of Saint Anthony. The city extends around the medieval heart, dotted with charming squares and palaces. The Basilica of St. Anthony, adorned with Byzantine domes, houses the tomb of the city's patron saint. Gala evening.

Departure from the Zattere or San Basilio quay. The Dorsoduro district, with its narrow streets and canals, is one of the most pleasant in Venice. It is the only district in the city that was built on dry land rather than on marshland. Our walk will take you... see+ along the Zattere quay to the church of Santo Spirito and the customs house. From this point in Venice, the view is absolutely spectacular, as you can see the entire St. Mark's Basin, St. George's Island, and the Grand Canal. Then we will reach the church of Santa Maria della Salute (exterior), a masterpiece of Venetian Baroque architecture. It was built in the 17th century after a plague epidemic. The route takes us to the Accademia Deck with its galleries. We will stop in the heart of Dorsoduro, the large square of Campo Santa Margherita, where you will be charmed by this pleasant neighborhood. This chic district, where many palaces overlook the Grand Canal, has lost none of its simplicity. Return to the boat on foot.NOTESThe order of visits may be changed.Times are given as a guide only.

After a short cruise on a local boat, you will reach the island of Murano. Murano, the largest island in the lagoon, has been world-renowned for the art of glassblowing since the 13th century. You will visit a glassblowing workshop and watch a demonstration.... see+ Then, you will have free time to explore the island. Although dominated by the industrial backdrop of glass factories, Murano is home to beautiful churches and some remarkable palaces. NOTES The order of visits may be changed. Venetian cuisine is renowned for its refinement and diversity. It has drawn on its rich history of varied influences and makes wonderful use of the bounty of the sea and the fertile Po Valley and lagoon islands. You will stroll through the fruit, vegetable, and fish stalls before taking a seat on the terrace of a typical osteria on the banks of the Grand Canal to sample ciccheti, small Italian tapas eaten with the end of your fingers, and buranelli, butter cookies shaped like rings or "S"s, flavored with vanilla, rum, or lemon, a specialty of the island of Burano, located in the Venice lagoon. Padua, probably best known as the city of St. Anthony, is one of Italy's most important cities of art. Giotto (1267-1337, Italian painter, sculptor, and architect) left some of his masterpieces in Padua, enriching the city's artistic landscape. You will start... see+ with a bus tour of the city, then visit the Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua, a huge church adorned with Byzantine domes and minaret towers. It houses the tomb of St. Anthony, a place of pilgrimage for people from all over the world. In the square in front of the church, you can admire Donatello's 15th-century bronze statue, a work of art that greatly influenced Italian Renaissance sculpture. A walking tour of the city center will take you to Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza della Frutta, where a fresh produce market is held every day. You will then see the Palazzo della Ragione (exterior) and Piazza dei Signori with the Palazzo del Capitano (exterior), which incorporates the Torre dell'Orologio and its astronomical clock dating from 1344.
