Oslo
Arrive in the Norwegian capital and check into your hotel. There's lots to see and do in Oslo, so... see+ we recommend you allow plenty of time to visit the sights.
Our dynamic capital is a thriving place where old and new cultures mix. It's also compact, making it easy to get around on foot.
If you're an art and culture lover, don't miss the new Munch Museum, the Ibsen Museum and the Nobel Peace Centre. In the evening, take in a show at the Oslo Opera House, which is worth a visit for its striking architecture alone. Choose from Oslo's restaurants and bars, which are at the forefront of the international culinary scene. Establishments near the harbour offer views to rival the delicious food on your plate.
There's plenty of opportunity to keep active too. The surrounding hills are easily accessible for hikers and skiers. In the city, you can stroll along the waterfront, stroll through the Vigeland sculpture park in Frogner Park, visit a sauna and swim in the fjord.

Oslo Trondheim
Today you take the 100-year-old Dovre line (or Dovrebanen in Norwegian) across eastern Norway to... see+ Trondheim. Leave your hotel in time to catch the train at one of two departure times.
Your journey takes around 6 hours and 30 minutes to cover the 485 km from Oslo to Trondheim. You'll skirt the shores of Mjøsa, Norway's largest lake with Lillehammer, host of the 1994 Winter Olympics, at its northern tip, and pass beneath the famous Wood Hotel, the world's tallest wooden building.
Next stop is Gudbrandsdalen, known as the king of valleys thanks to its mighty mountains, rivers and forests dotted with traditional villages, and the mountainous Dovrefjell plateau. The latter, which gives its name to the route, is a national park that is home to golden eagles and around 300 wild musk oxen, the only population of these magnificent creatures in Norway.
On arrival in Trondheim, check into your hotel and then begin to explore this historic place, which is both Norway's oldest city and its technological capital. Founded in 997, it was once the capital of the Vikings. From the Old Town Bridge, admire the colourful old warehouses lining the river Nidelva and follow the cobbled streets to Norway's equivalent of Notre Dame, Nidaros Cathedral.

Trondheim Kristiansund Molde Alesund
The boat that takes you to Bergen leaves Trondheim at 9.30am. You'll be sailing the last two days... see+ of our famous Coastal Express route, an important link between southern and northern Norway that we founded over 130 years ago. We look forward to welcoming you on board. After check-in, settle into your cabin and explore the ship, your home for the next 30 hours. It's time to let the beauty of the Norwegian coastline unfold before your eyes. You'll sail past magnificent islands and see our coastline lined with mountains and dotted with small communities.
In the late afternoon, we'll dock at Kristiansund harbour, where we'll stay for an hour. Here you can join one of our optional excursions: a bus tour of the famous Atlantic Highway (not available in winter) or a visit to the enchanting Bergtatt marble mine, and return to your ship in Molde. You can also explore Kristiansund on your own, wandering through the cobbled streets of the old town and up to the old watchtower at Varden viewpoint.
Later in the evening, as we approach Molde, where we dock for 30 minutes, you can catch a glimpse of the peaks of the Romsdal Alps. If you travel between mid-June and the end of August, when the flowers are in full bloom, you'll soon understand why Molde is nicknamed ‘the city of roses’.At night, your ship will call briefly at Ålesund and Torvik, but you'll probably fall asleep in your cabin after a delicious three-course dinner or buffet in the restaurant. After your meal, make yourself comfortable at the bar and watch the coast go by while sipping a cocktail next to the huge floor-to-ceiling windows.

Alesund Maloy Floro Bergen
Today, magnificent views of the Westfjord coastline await you as you come to the end of your... see+ journey on board.
If you get up early enough, you may catch a glimpse of a Coastal Express ship heading north as it approaches Måløy. Before docking in Florø for 15 minutes in the morning, you may be able to catch a glimpse of Nordfjord, beneath the enormous Jostedal glacier, the largest in continental Europe.
On leaving Florø, you can admire the Stabben lighthouse, a popular subject for photographers. Crossing the mouth of the Sognefjord, Norway's longest and widest fjord, also offers breathtaking views.
As we sail towards Bergen, your ship crosses the last islands and reefs on our scenic route, and heads down the Hjeltefjord to dock in Bergen at 2.45pm.
You now have the whole afternoon and evening to spend in Bergen. Bergen may be Norway's second largest city, but it still has the charm of a small town. The city centre is easily visited on foot, but you can also book our post-trip ‘Seafood dinner on the island and boat trip’ to enjoy some of Scandinavia's best seafood on a small island just 25 minutes from Bergen. Don't miss the UNESCO-listed Bryggen, a colourful Hanseatic quay with a host of museums, shops, restaurants and art galleries, not far from the bustling fish market. You can also take the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen. From here, you can admire the view of Bergen and the coastal landscape below before heading inland tomorrow.

Bergen Oslo
Today you return by train to Oslo, where your journey began five days ago. Your train leaves in the... see+ morning and you'll spend around 7 hours admiring the views from the Bergensbanen, the Bergen Line, one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. Some ten years older than the Dovre line, the Bergen line is the highest railway in Northern Europe. It culminates at 1,222 metres above sea level at Finse, where you will travel 10.3 km through the longest of its 182 tunnels.
On the 495 km route, you'll pass through Voss, Norway's adventure capital, with its mountains, deep valleys and narrow fjords that thrill adrenalin junkies, and the Hardangervidda National Park, home to Europe's largest high-mountain plateau and Europe's largest herd of wild reindeer. Nearly 9,000 of them roam here; look out for the animals as your train passes through landscapes of mountain peaks reflected in pools of stagnant water.
Finally, you'll notice that the train descends into landscapes filled with forests, rivers and small mountains before arriving in Oslo, completing your tour of Norway by land and sea.
