You'll embark in Glasgow (Greenock), where the ship will be waiting at the port. Specifically designed for more intimate explorations, this is one of our smaller ships. Take time to explore the vessel before meeting the expedition team, your guides for the adventure ahead. Then, it’s time to enjoy your first dinner on board as we set sail.

Heimaey is the only inhabited island in the Vestmann Islands, located off Iceland’s south coast.... see+ It has a fascinating history and still bears the scars of a powerful volcanic eruption that nearly destroyed the island.

Visit Eldheimar, a museum showcasing a house unearthed during excavation, now frozen in time, and learn more about the eruption and its aftermath. Or go hiking in search of puffins at Stórhöfði, where nearly eight million birds nest each summer. Don’t miss the climb up Eldfell volcano, where you’ll be rewarded with an incredible view of the town below.

Heimaey Grundarfjordur
The majestic Kirkjufell mountain, an iconic symbol of Iceland, dominates the landscape near... see+ Grundarfjörður, a peaceful village in Breiðafjörður Bay.

Close by is the Snæfellsnes Peninsula National Park, renowned for its diverse landscapes and the glacial volcano Snæfellsjökull at its western tip. Nicknamed "Little Iceland," this region offers a glimpse into unique panoramas.

Visitors can explore the black sand beach of Djúpalónssandur, admire the Saxhóll crater, or venture by snowmobile to the glacier's summit. The more adventurous can discover an impressive lava tunnel on a guided underground tour.

Encircled by towering mountains, Ísafjörður is a nearly perfect natural harbor and an ideal... see+ gateway to the Westfjords region. Stroll through its streets to admire its architecture, discover the richness of local craftsmanship, and see some of Iceland’s oldest houses.

One of these historic 18th-century buildings houses the Westfjords Heritage Museum, where you can learn about the maritime history of this fascinating port. Alternatively, for those seeking activity, hike the steep trail to Naustahvilft, the "Troll's Throne." At the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views.

Take time to relax during the day at sea as we sail through Arctic waters toward Jan Mayen Island.... see+ Enjoy panoramic views and chat with fellow travelers in the Explorer Lounge & Bar, or immerse yourself in a hot tub on deck while keeping an eye out for seabirds.

You can also attend one or two lectures on topics such as local history, geology, or Arctic wildlife. Alternatively, visit the Science Center to deepen your knowledge of the planned sites and, if you wish, participate in a citizen science project to contribute to ongoing research.

At sea - Iceland Jan Mayen
Jan Mayen has no permanent residents, and visitors are rare. We are among the few ships attempting... see+ a landing on the island. If conditions allow, you’ll set foot on one of the most remote places on Earth.

The surreal landscape of Jan Mayen, covered in moss and lichen, is dominated by the volcanic cone of Beerenberg, the northernmost active volcano in the world, which last erupted in 1985.

Although the island hosts no terrestrial mammals, it is designated as an Important Bird Area, home to abundant populations of northern fulmars, Brünnich’s guillemots, and little auks. Look out for the rich marine life in the surrounding waters, including whales and seals.

Spend your day as you wish as we head further into the Arctic, towards Svalbard. Enjoy these... see+ moments of tranquility and serenity at sea. It’s the perfect opportunity to take a break and disconnect from the modern world.

Feeling active? Why not work out in the fitness center or relax in the sauna while enjoying the panoramic views? As always, the expedition team will be available to answer any questions and share their knowledge about these Arctic islands.

Svalbard embodies Arctic beauty in all its preserved splendor: vast stretches of rugged mountains,... see+ desolate glaciers, and beautiful, mysterious islands off the coast. Over the next three days, you will visit some of the most spectacular fjords in the world and glaciers calving icebergs into the sea.

Each day will be unique. Shore landings, kayaking trips—be ready for anything! The captain and... see+ the expedition team will choose the best sites and activities based on the day’s conditions. We may head towards the snow-capped peaks of the northwestern tip of Spitsbergen or visit Ny-Ålesund, the northernmost inhabited place in the world and an important climate research station.

Heimaey - A Walk Through History and Lava
Heimaey is one of the Vestmann Islands, an archipelago rich in history and natural beauty. During a guided walk, you will visit Skansinn, a replica of a fort built on the orders of a Danish king. Admire the wooden church and Landlyst, one of Heimaey’s... see+ oldest buildings, then discover the lava formed during the Eldfell volcanic eruption. Finally, visit the Sagnheimar Folklore Museum in the town center.

Heimaey - Discover Heimaey by boat
Join a coastal discovery of Heimaey on a guided boat excursion during which you will visit two sea caves with incredible acoustics. The sea is a wildlife paradise where seals, porpoises, and dolphins play in the summer. You may also spot orcas and other... see+ cetaceans. During this excursion, you will learn how the eruption of the Eldfell volcano irrevocably transformed the coast in 1973.

Heimaey - Tour of the Island of Heimaey
Enjoy a scenic drive to cliffs home to a rich birdlife, including puffins, fulmars, and guillemots. You will discover the ruins of a farm dating back to the year 900 AD in the valley of Herjólfsdalur, as well as the viewpoint of Stórhöfði, which offers... see+ views of the glaciers of the mainland. We will then pass by the volcanoes of Helgafell and Eldfell, cross lava fields, and see a buried house.

Heimaey – Rigid Inflatable Boat Safari
These waters are often frequented by orcas and whales, as well as dolphins and porpoises, so keep an eye out! This excursion will give you the opportunity to enter marine caves and even explore some of them. You will see the extraordinary lava formations... see+ created by the volcanic eruption of 1973. You will then approach a large puffin colony at Stakkabót and observe thousands of these unique birds.
