Your Alaskan adventure begins with a night in Anchorage, a city full of restaurants, galleries, and... see+ shops. The Anchorage Museum and the Alaska Native Heritage Center offer insight into local culture. For outdoor enthusiasts, a visit to the flower-filled Town Square Park or salmon fishing at Ship Creek will surely delight you.

To make the most of your stay, we recommend participating in our optional pre-program at the incredible Denali National Park, home to North America’s highest peak and a wide variety of Alaskan wildlife.

Anchorage Seward
After breakfast, you’ll head to Seward on a scenic journey. Our route crosses the Kenai... see+ Peninsula, regarded by Alaskans and visitors alike as one of the most spectacular backcountry landscapes in the world. This transfer will take you through breathtaking scenery to the Pacific coast, where our expedition ship awaits.

Our embarkation point, Seward, is the only ice-free deepwater port with road, rail, and air connections to Alaska’s interior. Once aboard the ship, settle into your cabin and explore the spacious and comfortable expedition vessel that will be your home for nearly two weeks.

Seward College Fjord
Today, we visit College Fjord, home to five tidewater glaciers, five valley glaciers, and a dozen... see+ other types.

This fjord was discovered in 1899 during the Harriman Expedition. The team members named the glaciers after the universities they had attended, such as Vassar, Harvard, and Yale, while gleefully ignoring Princeton.

We will approach the glaciers as closely and safely as possible, venturing into the fjord aboard our small expedition boats or even exploring by kayak, weather permitting. From your vessel, you may spot humpback whales, bald eagles, otters, and sea lions, all of which inhabit this wild and icy region.

Today, we set out for a day of exploration in Icy Bay. Vast sections of three glaciers (Guyot,... see+ Yahtse, and Tyndall) regularly spill into this bay. If conditions permit, you will explore the area aboard our small expedition boats or by kayak, to fully appreciate the beauty of this icy landscape.

Wildlife is abundant in the Gulf of Alaska, offering unparalleled photography opportunities. Humpback whales, orcas, Steller sea lions, sea otters, and harbor seals basking on floating ice chunks are common in these waters.

Icy Bay Baie du Prince-William
In the morning, we will pass by Point Adolphus, located on the northern tip of Chichagof Island,... see+ across from Glacier Bay National Park. The nutrient-rich waters are known to attract humpback whales and other marine life, so make sure to head to the deck and don’t forget your camera.

William Henry Bay is located south of Haines, at the edge of the Chilkat Mountain range, and is home to brown bears, black bears, and moose. Under the watchful eye of a local expert guide, we will anchor here and explore the shores lined with pristine forest.

Baie du Prince-William Haines
Near the head of Lynn Canal lies the border town of Haines, once home to the Chilkat Tlingit... see+ people. The community members are known for their weaving skills. You will have the chance to admire remarkable examples of their work, made from mountain goat hair and cedar bark woven into intricate patterns.

Haines has a thriving art scene, with galleries and workshops displaying totem sculptures, jewelry, and other sculptures. Bringing home art and crafts from Alaska is a great way to support local creators. The stunning landscapes are also perfect for hiking and wildlife watching.

Haines Tracy Arm Fjord
Holkham Bay is home to two beautiful fjords: Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm. Your captain will decide... see+ which one offers the best exploration opportunities for the day.

At the end of each of these fjords, chunks of glaciers collapse, giving birth to new icebergs, set against a dramatic backdrop of rocky cliffs. This area is a breeding ground for harbor seals, often seen lounging on the floating ice. You may also spot whales, bears, and mountain goats.

Tracy Arm Fjord Sitka
Surrounded by the Tongass National Forest, Sitka is only accessible by sea or air. Step out onto... see+ the deck to enjoy views of the Sisters Mountains and the Mount Edgecumbe volcano.

Inhabited by the Tlingit people for 10,000 years, the city was colonized by Russian explorers at the turn of the 19th century before being sold to the United States after Russia’s defeat in the Crimean War. Today, Sitka has roots in all three cultures.

A visit to the Russian Orthodox Cathedral and the Russian Bishop’s House is recommended. Admire the totem poles carved by the Haida and Tlingit at the Sitka National Historical Park and take a hike through the forest to reach the ocean.

Sitka At sea - Southeastern Alaska
Explore Alaska in the true expedition style during today’s exploration day in this magical corner... see+ of the Inside Passage.

If conditions allow, we will take to the sea aboard our small expedition boats, searching for isolated coves, iceberg-filled bays, and shores covered with thick forests. Try to spot some of Alaska’s most iconic animals, such as the bald eagle, the Troil’s guillemot, otters, whales, and even bears, if luck is on our side.

At sea - Southeastern Alaska Wrangell
We will continue our cruise through the Alaskan islands towards Wrangell. Just 1.5 km from the town... see+ is Petroglyph Beach, a beach where you can see ancient petroglyphs etched in the sand.

Visit the local museum to learn more about Wrangell’s fascinating past. Once American, this territory was formerly governed by Britain, Russia, and the Tlingit people. Cross over to Shakes Island, where Chief Shakes’ tribal house and totems tell the story of the indigenous Tlingit people.

Hikers will enjoy the natural trails in this stunning setting at the mouth of the Stikine River and at the foot of Mount Dewey, leading to the edge of the rainforest.

Wrangell Misty Fjords
Located in the Tongass National Forest, the Misty Fjords offer a pristine wilderness scattered with... see+ evergreen trees, waterfalls, and majestic snow-capped peaks. The admired naturalist writer John Muir described this region as one of the most beautiful places he had ever seen.

If the weather conditions allow, you will join the expedition team for a trip through the Misty Fjords aboard our small expedition boats. You will also have the opportunity to go kayaking.

The Misty Fjords are home to rich wildlife. During your exploration, you may spot mountain goats, bears, and moose. The waters are home to Pacific salmon, otters, sea lions, harbor seals, orcas, and Dall’s porpoises. In the sky, you might spot herons and bald eagles.

Misty Fjords Inside Passage
The coastal route of the Inside Passage takes us through the great "North American Pacific... see+ Fjordland," a protected waterway nearly 1,500 kilometers long. Unlike other ships that cross it at night, you'll have the chance to admire this stunning landscape in all its glory during the day.

Our smaller expedition vessel allows us to reach areas that larger ships cannot, meaning you'll have the opportunity to explore less-traveled channels with breathtaking scenery. Keep your camera and binoculars close at hand to capture the spectacle offered by dolphins, porpoises, orcas, and humpback whales.

Inside Passage Alert Bay
We arrive at Alert Bay, a picturesque village on Cormorant Island, north of Vancouver Island. Here,... see+ we will have the opportunity to meet and learn from the Kwakwakawakw First Nations community. Being welcomed by them is a true privilege.

At the U'mista Cultural Center, you will see intricate totems, paintings, sculptures, ceremonial masks, and other important objects.

The sheltered waters of the island attract many wild animals, including the yellow-billed loon, which with its distinctive spotted back is a specimen not to be missed. Scan the shore, and you might also spot orcas and humpback whales.

Your expedition cruise ends in Vancouver, a beautiful city at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.... see+ Visit Gastown, the city's oldest neighborhood, and climb the Vancouver Lookout Tower, which offers a panoramic view of neon-lit Granville Street, the West End beaches, and the giant cedars of Stanley Park.

Vancouver has a unique flavor, just like its international cuisine. Before continuing your journey, we recommend dining in Chinatown, at Punjabi Market, or in Little Italy to experience the vibrant atmosphere of the city.

After a scenic drive to Chilkat State Park, you'll begin your 5 km hike through the temperate rainforests toward Moose Meadows. Along the way, your naturalist guide will share insights about the local flora and fauna.
Once you reach Moose Meadows, you'll be... see+ treated to a grand view of the glacier and fjord, and may even spot moose grazing nearby. We'll have a picnic on the beach, surrounded by stunning landscapes. If time permits, we'll continue hiking south along the coast before heading back.

Enjoy a scenic drive through Fort Seward and along the Haines Peninsula to reach the start of the trail leading to Mount Riley. The hike begins on rolling terrain through temperate rainforest before undertaking the mountain ascent. Our goal: the summit,... see+ offering a stunning 360° panoramic view of Lynn Canal and beyond. Your guide will introduce you to the local wildlife and flora, and you'll take a picnic break.

Your adventure begins with a short transfer to reach one of the many available... see+ trails. Your experienced guide will select the ideal route for the day, based on the conditions, the group’s abilities, and interests. Whichever hike is chosen, it’s an experience you won’t forget!

Put on a warm 7mm wetsuit and follow your experienced guides on this one-hour snorkeling adventure, which will take you through the vibrant kelp forests of the Sitka Sound.

During your exploration, keep an eye out for sea stars, anemones, scallops, young... see+ salmon, and kelp greenlings. If luck is on our side, we may even spot some of the region’s largest marine residents, such as the giant Pacific octopus, sea otters, harbor seals, or the majestic humpback whale.

The excursion begins with a narrated panoramic coach ride, passing by Sitka’s iconic landmarks, with photo opportunities along the way.

Our first stop is the Sitka National Historical Park, where you can walk along the forest trail lined with totems,... see+ learn about Alaska's edible and medicinal plants from your local guide, or watch Alaskan artists at work in the carving room. Our next stop is the Sheldon Jackson Museum, home to the largest collection of Native art and artifacts in the state of Alaska.

Your day begins with a scenic jet boat ride to the trailhead of the observatory in the Tongass National Forest. Your guide will lead you through the pristine temperate rainforest to the Anan Creek waterfalls. Here, eagles soar overhead while brown and black... see+ bears, accompanied by their cubs, hunt for salmon swimming upstream. In the nearby bays, you might even spot seals, dolphins, orcas, and humpback whales.

Led by a crew of local fishermen, we will make our way along the pristine coastline, searching for marine animals such as sea otters, seals, sea lions, and perhaps... see+ even majestic whales. Throughout the excursion, your crew will provide information about local marine mammals and the complex coastal ecosystems.

You will then enjoy a delicious lunch on board, featuring regional dishes and locally sourced seafood from sustainable fishing practices.

Your double kayak awaits on the beach next to the ferry dock. Listen to the safety instructions, put on your gear, and set off with your paddling partner in search of eagles and marine wildlife. You’ll surely make a stop on a secluded beach to stretch your... see+ legs before returning for the picnic. If the conditions aren’t favorable for paddling, we’ll retreat to an alternative site, Chilkoot Lake.
