Last updated on 8 April 2025

Why rent a yacht in the Bahamas?

Welcome to the Bahamas, the world capital of yachting and fishing, located in the northern Caribbean Sea! Lovers of the sea, diving and nature, don't forget to pack your fishing rodand your mask and snorkel… From the side of your luxury yacht, you can dive into the sea to discover the diversity of the seabed, accompanied by turtles and thousands of other fish. You can also enjoy the sun on the large white sandy beaches, which are an invitation to get away from it all. During your yacht cruise in the Bahamas, you will be captivated by the beauty of the landscapes that the archipelago and its 700 islands have to offer. Don't forget to sample the local cuisine, which is sure to delight your taste buds… The Bahamians are said to be warm and welcoming towards tourists. For the more curious, don't hesitate to talk to them to discover their culture, their way of life and their history, they will be delighted to share it with you. It is worth noting that even if the US dollar is accepted, the local currency is the Bahamian dollar, so changing money before setting sail is part of the experience!

The best places to sail in the Bahamas

Sailing itineraries inthe Bahamas archipelago are as diverse as they are numerous. Each area caters to individual tastes… Sailing along the coasts of the northern islands, you will see the most beautiful houses in the archipelago. The population is rich in this place but the flora and fauna are no less impressive. Hundreds of species live side by side and it feels like you are in a picture postcard setting. During your yacht cruise in the Bahamas, don't forget to stop off in Nassau, the capital of the archipelago. Located on the island of New Providence, it's a must to stop there to fill up with fuel and stroll through the streets of the capital. A little further down, on the George Town side, you return to civilization. With over 200 km and 300 islands, the Exumas archipelago is very touristy and therefore very populated. However, you can still explore the most beautiful beaches in the Bahamas here, with their combination of white sand and turquoise water. Moreover, the islands of Iguana and Pigs are islands that tourists often visit when they pass through these surroundings. Finally, for lovers of deserted beaches and fishing, head to the southeast of the archipelago! Take a loop through Jumentos, Acklins, Iguana and Ragged… their natural beauty and tranquility will delight you. Please note that your sailing itinerary will depend very much on the weather conditions, which can vary the sea currents and the winds.

When to go on a cruise in the Bahamas?

To fully enjoy your yacht cruise in the Bahamas, it is important to bear in mind that the hurricane season is between the beginning of June and the end of November. It would therefore be more prudent to plan your trip to the Bahamas between January and May. Temperatures vary according to the season, ranging from a minimum of 17°C in January to a maximum of 28°C in May. It is important to know that when you pass through Bahamian customs, you will be given a one-year sailing permit and a one-and-a-half-month immigration permit, which you can renew if necessary.
