Part of the province of Limburg, Kinrooi is made up of 5 magnificent villages that are well worth a visit for their heritage. Molenbeersel, Geistingen, Ophoven, Kessenich and Kinrooi will take you back to a bygone era with their beautiful architecture that will appeal to lovers of old buildings. Northwest of Kessenich, one willingly lingers in front of Borgitter Castle. On a detour, one is quickly seized by Slichtenhof farm, standing in the village of Molenbeersel. It is an elongated farm described in a document dating from the 16th century. Along the Meuse, you can set foot in Kessenich, one of the 5 oldest boroughs of Kinrooi. Budding historians will unearth the remains of a medieval and prehistoric civilization to the south and west of the village. The municipality is also home to Roman catacombs and an ancient Roman road connecting the municipalities of Nimègue and Maastricht.
And let's not forget the mills that blend completely into the Belgian landscape, three of which stand out: Lemmensmolen, Zorgvlietmolen and Keijersmolen.
