about fifty kilometers from Nicosia, on the southern coast of Cyprus, Larnaca is a jewel to be savored without moderation. Moreover, its central geographical location makes it an interesting base for visiting all the country's must-see places, while also offering the opportunity to enjoy the activities offered by the Mediterranean Sea.
Cruise passengers who dream of a wonderful trip to the Turkish coasts and Greek islands will therefore be happy to take advantage of the yacht charter services in Larnaca. Leaving from this Cypriot port, they can sail north and make a stopover in the fascinating city of Antalya, which remains the tourist capital of Turkey's Mediterranean coast. But other cities steeped in history and rich in attractions are also accessible by sea, including Kusadasi, Rhodes and Athens.
However, before boarding your sailboat, don't forget to discover the iconic places of Larnaca. Architecture enthusiasts will be in their element when visiting, for example, the Church of Saint Lazarus, dating from the end of the 9th century and in the Byzantine style. As for vacationers fond of unusual landscapes, they will undoubtedly be delighted to see the large salt lake south of the city.
Our base in Larnaca is in the southeast of the island of Cyprus, in the Greek "zone". Sailing in Cyprus is a wonderful experience, combining ideal sailing conditions with moderate winds and temperatures of around 30° in summer, idyllic anchorages, fine sandy beaches, picturesque villages with a contrasting atmosphere between historic sites and holiday atmosphere.
How to have fun in Larnaca?
There is a wide range of activities on offer in Larnaca due to its geographical location and its very beautiful natural and urban environment. In addition to visiting monuments and historical sites, vacationers quickly take pleasure in strolling along the seaside at sunset. Its palm-lined promenade is undoubtedly one of the prettiest in Cyprus. It is lined with numerous taverns where you can gather around a large table and sample some local specialties, such as fasolaki, or sip a glass of wine with a breathtaking view of the sea. It is also on this promenade that various cultural events and major festivals are organized, such as Kataklysmos, also known as the Festival of the Flood, which is eagerly awaited every summer.
Nature lovers will be eager to drop anchor and set off on a wild hike to the salt lake of Larnaca. Covering an area of more than 2.2 km2, it is the second largest of Cyprus's salt lakes. Declared a protected area in 1997, Larnaca Lake lies to the southwest of the city and is home to many migratory birds, including flamingos and wild ducks, which invade the warm waters of the lake between November and March. The area around the lake offers close to 4 km of hiking trails leading to archaeological remains dating back to the Neolithic period.
The beaches invite you to enjoy a swim after a long hike in the city and its surroundings. Not far from the fishing port of Larcana lies the small beach of Kastella. Almost 600 meters long, this beach of fine gray sand is easily accessible and offers shallow, clear waters.
