Poncin Yachts Yachts
Olivier Poncin founded the Poncin Yachts group in 2001, with more than 30 years of experience in the nautical sector. Today, this shipyard has two production sites, in Roussillon and in Charente-Maritime, and is mainly known for the development of two ranges of cruisers. The brand, which was floated on the stock market in 2005, claims to be driven by two major factors: creativity in innovation and the know-how of its 250 workers. Its philosophy, rooted in sustainable development, is moreover based on the use of cutting-edge technologies to satisfy the desires of its clientele. Thus, the range of Bali catamarans developed by the group is a reflection of its preferences in terms of multihull production. The Bali 4.5, launched in 2014, notably saw the participation of naval architect Xavier Faÿ and interior designer Hervé Couëdel. However, it should be emphasized that it is the Catana brand, part of the group since 2003, which has become the spearhead of Poncin Yachts thanks to models such as the C42, C47, C53 and C59. The Catana reference is such that the group decided in 2014 to change its corporate name to Catana Group.Poncin Yachts, an ecological and innovative shipyardSince its creation in 2001, the Poncin Yachts shipyard has aimed to be ecological by relying on an innovative production system called the "closed mold" technique. Thanks to vacuum infusion and injection, the company produces higher quality polyester hulls and decks. This technique guarantees a very good homogeneity of the resin, giving the boats greater rigidity. The result is vessels with an excellent weight/strength ratio and a sleek, streamlined design. Its qualities are to be found in the Harmony range produced from 2004 onwards. This range includes 5 yachts that are the result of this revolutionary manufacturing concept. The shipyard's factories, where boats from 10 to 15 meters are produced, are located in Marans, not far from La Rochelle. One of the most noteworthy is the Harmony 38, a fractional sloop in Sloop fractionated of 11.67 meters overall length, which was very successful with its taut lines balancing the volume of its hull and the clarity of its fittings. And let's not forget the Harmony 47, built from 2004 onwards, which offers a comfortable living space with its convertible living area and spacious cabins.A new name, new objectivesA new page has been turned for the Poncin Yachts group since it became known as the Catana Group. With a solid foundation and exceptional know-how, the shipyard is now focusing on the production of larger vessels. Speed and luxury will be the watchwords of its new products. The Catana 59 catamaran, designed as a fractional sloop, and the Catana 70 will be the flagships of its new elite range. Wishing to expand its field of activity, the company is also turning to smaller boats by launching a new brand of cruising catamaran, the Bali Catamarans range.
