Having started its activities in 1963, Westerly was initially called "Westerly Marine Construction Ltd". It was its founder, a commander in the Royal Navy named Denys Rayner, who designed the brand's first model: the legendary Westerly 22, a boat with one hull made of GRP composite materials.Thanks to the seaworthiness of its yachts, the English shipyard soon came to dominate the pleasure boat market in the United Kingdom, and did so for several decades, until its acquisition by the Bowman group in the mid-1990s. while John « Jack » Laurent Giles signed around twenty plans for the British shipbuilder, including the Centaur 26, the Jouster 21, the Pageant 24, the GK 24 and GK 29 racing craft and the Warwick 21.Furthermore, it is to the New Zealand designer Ron Holland that we owe the innovative design of the Ocean 43. Launched in 1997, the Ocean 43 remains particularly popular with families, thanks to its beautiful living space and its great reliability at sea.
