The most beautiful beaches of Nord-Pas-de-Calais
From Dunkirk to Berck, following the coastline of Nord-Pas-de-Calais is a pure delight, especially when it is sculpted with magnificent fine sandy beaches and endless dunes caressed by the clear waters of the English Channel and the North Sea. Bordered by the North Sea, the beach at Terminus de Malo-les-Bains, in the Nord department (59), is worth lingering on for a while before setting off in the open sea, especially if you're a fan of kitesurfing and windsurfing.
Are you fascinated by wild landscapes stretching as far as the eye can see? Head for Strouanne beach, not far from Calais. This extension of the Grande Plage de Wissant reveals a highly diverse landscape. In addition to kitesurfing, people come here to take walks while enjoying the magnificent view of the jagged cliffs, Cap Gris Nez and Cap Blanc Nez. The sandy beach of Cap Blanc Nez is the best place to scramble to the foot of the 135-meter-high white cliffs.
at the sight of its long rivers of sand stretching for more than 10 km, one is unconsciously tempted by a long coastal hike, especially when these offer visitors a preserved environment. This is the case of the beach at Le Touquet, known as the «pearl of the Opal Coast», and the beach at Equihen, halfway between Boulogne-sur-Mer and Hardelot. Equihen beach also owes its reputation to its big waves, which are a delight for funboarders and kitesurfers.
at the southernmost tip of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, you come across the coastal town of Berck, the most important seaside resort in the north of France. Its coastline stretches for about ten kilometers and hosts international kite flying competitions at Easter.
