The spectacular cruising ground of Saint Vincent, capital of the Grenadines, offers sailing with a view. Sailors of all levels of experience will enjoy the superb scenery, diving and an incredible variety of beaches with palm trees in tow.
Our Blue Lagoon sailboat charter base is located on the south coast of Saint Vincent close-hauled to the Lagoon Hotel. A delightful and protected anchorage area, it is the ideal base for heading south to the Grenadines or simply staying on land and discovering the interior of the island.
Coasting around a paradise island
An irresistible showcase of lush nature forming part of the Lesser Antilles, Saint Vincent invites yachtsmen to explore the thirty or so magnificent islands that make up the state of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Sailing virtually from sight ofisland to island hauled in alongside the boat with one hull or a catamaran in The Caribbean, the crossings can only be pleasant in the wonderful sunny basin that bathes the archipelago. What's more, the region has no shortage of idyllic anchorages and golden, white or black sand beaches.
By mooring your boat in the Blue Lagoon marina, you can visit the charming city of Kingston, which is none other than the capital and the most populated conurbation in the country. The Saint Vincent Botanical Gardens, the second oldest in the Western Hemisphere, have a collection of 500 taxa that will fascinate flora lovers. For its part, Fort Charlotte, which overlooks the city 196 meters above sea level, will fascinate history buffs, panoramic view hunters, and art lovers alike. In fact, you should know that the fort built in 1806 by the English houses a beautiful collection of paintings by former British merchant navy officer Lindsay Prescott.
Ports of call you will never forget
Another unmissable stopover in Saint Vincent, Wallilabou Bay, located on the west coast, offers more than just a sumptuous natural setting of green cliffs, underwater caves and waterfalls. The place, now known for having served as the setting for a legendary scene in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, has become a veritable place of pilgrimage for big fans of the movie series since 2003.
Exploring the Grenadines also represents some of the highlights of a sailboat charter to Saint Vincent. Captivating Bequia will enchant cruisers with its ancestral traditions and excellent diving spots, while Moustique will delight fans of relaxation with its breathtaking scenery. Even further south, the Tobago Cays will also touch the seabed with magic thanks to its national wildlife conservation park, home to groupers, boxfish, rays, sea turtles, surgeonfish and other marine animals. In addition, its marvelous lagoon, protected by a large coral barrier aptly named « Horse shoe reef », has an incredible circular anchorage ;undoubtedly the kind of place that all self-respecting boaters must see at least once in their lives.
