Formia is a little-known but utterly charming Italian town located about 7 km north of Gaeta, in the province of Latina (Lazio region). Located on the shores of the Gulf of Gaète, the port is the point of departure for a cruise to the Pontine Islands. A yacht charter from Formia is the best choice for exploring these two groups of volcanic islands, formed to the west by Ponza, Gavi, Zannone and Palmarola, and to the east by Ventotene and Santo Stefano. There is nothing more magical for a pleasure boating enthusiast than to sail on the crystalline waters surrounding these stretches of land and to bathe there during a stopover under the radiant sun of the peninsula.
Sailing and scuba diving are the main activities. Apart from the pleasures of the sea, the neighboring towns and villages offer the opportunity to make memorable visits in contact with an authentic culture. Sperlonga and its medieval heritage, made up of narrow streets with small houses in intense colors on the side of the cliff overlooking the sea, will amaze you.
Dominatedby Mount Orlando, Gaète has a castle, a medieval quarter and a dome adorned with Moorish-style carvings and a 57-meter bell tower.
