Located in the south-east of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, the Italian province of Gorizia is a paradise for nature lovers. This religious building dating from the 6th century has preserved only the marble columns, Byzantine capitals, mosaic pavement and baptistery from that period. The gilded silver altarpiece, in the Venetian style, dates from the 14th century. To discover other mosaics from the 6th century, you have to go to the basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie. The municipality of Monfalcone is notable for its commercial port and shipyards. It offers a unique excursion along the Gulf of Panazon, opening out onto the towns of Marina Julia and Bagni di Panzano.
The beaches of Grado
Staying in Grado, you will have plenty of time to enjoy its beautiful, extremely clean beaches, which have earned it the nickname "golden island". The seaside resort boasts splendid family beaches that have been awarded the Blue Flag. At the western end of the city is the Costa Azzurra beach, which has a children's playground and a beach volleyball court.
Stabilimento Piper beach is home to a charming restaurant where you can sample Italian cuisine between swims. Particularly lively in summer, the Main Beach stretches for 3 km and offers various water sports such as pedalos and windsurfing.
