The current capital of the State of Maryland, the city of Annapolis was the very first capital of the fledgling American nation. The four signatories of the famous Declaration of Independence also came from this city. Their homes can still be found there today.
Annapolis: at the heart of history
The city of Annapolis was founded in 1649 on the Chesapeake Bay. Initially a simple settlement, it developed rapidly and was named in honor of Princess Anne. It should be noted that the city was built according to a baroque plan and the main monuments according to Georgian architecture.
