A sunny port of call, Las Palmas is located on... see+ the northeast coast of Gran Canaria. Just a few blocks from the port of Puerto de la Luz, you'll discover the vast Las Canteras beach, lined with the city's emblematic palm trees. You'll find them in the streets and squares, notably the plaza de Santa Ana in the heart of the historic district. You'll feel like you've stepped back in time, as you gaze up at the tall mansions set against the Santa Ana Cathedral. Nearby, you can visit the Casa de Colón, a museum dedicated to the famous navigator and housed in the former palace of the island's governors. You can also head for the Vegueta covered market, where you can share in the daily life of the city's inhabitants and enjoy some unfamiliar flavours.

The capital of the island of Palma, Santa-Cruz... see+ de la Palma is one of the pearls of the Canaries. Founded in 1493 by the conquistador Alonso Fernandez de Lugo, the city's colonial past has left its mark on its atypical architectural heritage, with traditional Canarian mansions adorned with brightly-colored wooden balconies, cobbled streets, sumptuous palaces and numerous religious buildings. The Santa Catalina castle is the symbol of the town. This 16th-century military fortification helped defend the town from repeated attacks by French privateers.
