Salzburg is one of the most famous cultural metropolises in the world. It has managed to preserve an exceptionally rich architecture built between the Middle Ages and the 19th century. Flamboyant Gothic art flourished throughout the city and used to attract many artists before its influence further grew with the involvement of Italian architects Vincenzo Scamozzi and Santini Solari, to whom the baroque character of Salzburg’s center owes much. The city is the birthplace of one of the most famous composers of all time, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, thus becoming the world capital of classical music. Many festivals are held throughout the year, and there are concerts almost daily all over the city, which adds even more charm and magic. The most famous is the classical music festival, which brings together many artists each year.
