From the Palais des Papes to the Pont Saint-Bénézet and the ramparts, the papal city proudly displays its attractions at the gateway to Provence. The Palace of the Popes, an imposing fortress and sumptuous palace, is the symbol of the power of Christianity in the Middle Ages. It was home to seven pontiffs in the 14th century. As you tour the halls of the world's largest Gothic palace, you'll learn about the lives of the pontiffs and their political and religious power. Admire the great ceremonial halls, chapels and private apartments of the Popes.
- Experience: walk to the Pont du Gard and visit the museum. This prodigious three-level Roman aqueduct, the highest in the world, a true technical feat and architectural masterpiece, is the most visited ancient monument in France. Just a few meters from the Pont du Gard, in a vast multimedia space, the museum plunges visitors into the fascinating world of Roman antiquity. Return on board for dinner and continue sailing towards Arles, which you will reach in the evening. After dinner, optional authentic excursion/experience: guided tour of Arles, a cultural mecca enriched by vestiges of the Roman Empire. Arles is home to a thousand marvels, and boasts numerous monuments inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Roman city, city of Van Gogh and capital of the Camargue, Arles, authentic and welcoming, has succeeded in reconciling tradition and modernity, culture and nature, art de vivre and a sense of celebration.
