Ujung Kulon National Park Krakatoa
The legendary Krakatoa is universally known, but few know where it is. Located in the Sunda Strait... see+ between Java and Sumatra, on the Pacific Ring of Fire, it was the site of the largest volcanic eruption in modern times in 1883. A colossal explosion, heard over 4,000 km away, pulverized Krakatoa. Since 1927, eruptions have gradually given rise to a new volcano, Anak Krakatoa, literally “Krakatoa's child”.
