Capri is a small Italian island, world famous and much sought after! The most famous island in the beautiful Bay of Naples is located opposite the Sorrento peninsula in southwestern Italy, and opens onto the Tyrrhenian Sea. Accessible by boat, a sailing cruise is the best way to discover Capri and its surroundings.
This superb region will never cease to amaze you and guarantees a complete change of scenery. The 3 main islands of the Gulf of Naples are as follows:
- Capri
- Ischia
- Procida
Renowned for its pleasant climate all year round, Capri is especially known for its history and natural wonders. This island is full of breathtaking views and remains from the Roman era. Climb aboard a luxurious shared catamaran and set off on a cabin cruise to Capri on your next vacation! Book your cabin and private bathroom for an all-inclusive dream vacation at an affordable price.
Capri
You will arrive at the port of Marina Grande, in the north of the island, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy. Take the funicular railway which will take you in 12 minutes to Piazza Umberto I, better known as the Piazzetta, in the heart of the town of Capri. Stroll through the lively cobbled streets lined with pretty white houses and ancient Roman villas, much loved by the jet set and a delight to all its visitors. "It's very pretty, everything's clean and there are hardly any cars. It's really nice to get around on foot, and then there's the funicular or buses if you need them," says Thomas Lepere, a Filovent customer who went on a cruise to Capri in May. "This city is a real little paradise, the walk along the mountain is magnificent,"he continues.
Take the time to drink a coffee on a terrace in the sunshine before going to explore the Villa Jovis on Mount Tiberius, from where you will have a superb view over the Bay of Naples. Nature lovers, we invite you to take a stroll through the botanical park of the Gardens of Augustus. In Capri, the beaches are few and far between and often isolated, made of granite and pebbles but with water of an absolutely breathtaking color!
The Blue Grotto
During your cruise to Capri, don't miss the chance to take a trip to the world-famous Blue Grotto, the Grotta Azzurra! Discovered in 1826, it is 60 meters long and 25 meters wide. It takes its name from the superb light blue color of its water and the royal blue reflections on its walls. The entrance is very low and narrow, so this incredible cave can only be accessed by boat. In fact, you may even have to lie down in the boat to get inside the cave. Once inside, you will be treated to a real spectacle. This sensational cave delights all its visitors and for good reason: it is a true marvel.
The Faraglioni
You can't miss them! The Faraglioni are three imposing limestone rocks about a hundred meters high. These three iconic stacks located south of Capri are the result of erosion by wind, rain and sea waves. These majestic rocks, one of the most beautiful sites in Capri, will leave you speechless. Gain a little height and contemplate them from a panoramic point of view. It is also an ideal spot to admire magnificent sunsets while sipping a good fruit cocktail from the deck of your boat during your cruise to Capri!
Procida
It is the smallest island in the archipelago at 4 km², and yet it is brimming with charm! You will arrive in a pretty little colorful fishing port, very typical, from which you can access the island's small alleys. "We loved Procida and its small port. Some fishermen were mending their nets, it was really very authentic. There are few tourists and it is very accessible! A very pleasant surprise!" Thomas Lepere tells me cheerfully. Still little known to tourists, you can stroll through the streets of Procida in a calm and intimate atmosphere and enjoy the unspoiled coves with crystal clear water. It was here that the film The Talented Mr. Ripley, starring Matt Damon and Jude Law, was filmed.
The Amalfi Coast
Take advantage of your cruise in Italy to take a trip along the splendid Amalfi Coast, which extends over 50 km of coastline in the southwest of Italy. It is one of the most beautiful coastlines in Italy and even in Europe. A true corner of paradise, all the more impressive from your boat. You will contemplate these small villages built and perched on the cliffs: Amalfi, Positano, Ravello... These pretty colorful houses in a wild landscape will undoubtedly charm you. It is the perfect place for beaching on small secret coves of fine sand or having a drink in one of the many beach restaurants along the coast.
Positano, Amalfi Coast
Here are the must-see ports of call according to Filovent for a cruise to Capri. Set sail and explore this beautiful region of Italy that continues to seduce young and old alike. Sailing conditions are ideal in the Bay of Naples. "That's one of the reasons we went there. I'm a sailing instructor, but my friends aren't necessarily used to sailing. There's little wind and the conditions are easy for people who don't sail often," Thomas Lepere explains to me. Not to mention the kindness of the Italians , "who come to help you as soon as you arrive in a port, which makes maneuvering easier," he adds!
