Optional morning tour of Amsterdam. A panoramic tour will give you an overview of the many... see+ historical treasures and sights of the Dutch capital. Windmills and the famous flower market are all symbols of the Netherlands and its history. Our first stop is the Riecker Mill, one of Amsterdam's oldest mills, on the banks of the Amstel. Depart for the flower market, where you'll round off this Dutch postcard by discovering thousands of varieties of flowers and bulbs of tulips, the country's star flower.

In the afternoon, optional excursion: Volendam and Zaanse Schans. Drive to Volendam, a charming fishing village on the banks of the Ijsselmeer, where the locals are sometimes still dressed in traditional costumes. Visit a cheese factory to learn how the famous Dutch round cheese, Gouda, is made. Tasting session. Continue on to Zaanse Schans, an open-air museum. Mills, houses and workshops have been relocated here to give a glimpse of Dutch life in the 19th century. In a traditional workshop, you can admire the art of shaping Dutch clogs. Then free time in the eco-museum, in the heart of authentic Holland and its traditions.

Return on board and sail to Groningen. Lively evening on board. Night sailing.

Morning sailing to Groningen. Free time. The youngest city in the Netherlands, thanks to its... see+ university, boasts a remarkable heritage that blends with contemporary achievements. Almost entirely pedestrianized, Groningen is easy to explore. Not to be missed: the Martini Tower, the Prinsentuin garden, the shopping streets, the most lively and interesting of which are Herestraat and Waagstraat.

Groningen is also known as the city with the highest number of cyclists per capita. Sailing to Papenburg.

Optional tour of the Meyer Werft shipyard. Founded in 1795, Meyer Werft originally built wooden... see+ boats, and was no different from the twenty or so other shipyards in Papenburg at the time. At the end of the 19th century, the company took the gamble of moving into steel boatbuilding, and since then it has gone from strength to strength. Run by the same family for six generations, the yard's history has been marked by a number of vessels, notably the Triton, the first iron ship built in 1874, and the Graf Goetzen, a 1913 steamer shipped in crates to Africa to sail on Lake Tanganyika. This same ship became famous as the German patrol boat in the 1951 Hollywood film The African Queen Odyssey. For 1h30, an enthusiastic guide will show you all the secrets behind the construction of these floating monsters. Return to Doerpen. Continuation to Oldenburg. Arrival in the evening.

Oldenburg Bremen
Free time for a stroll through Oldenburg, a university town and former residence of the Grand Duchy... see+ of Oldenburg. Stroll through the town's historic streets, including a majestic red-brick building, the Palais Elisabeth-Anna, the former residence of a ducal family, particularly attractive for its original appearance.

Return on board and continue your cruise to Bremen. Optional excursion to Bremen. The heart of the city beats around the historic market square. The stone statue of Roland, the local hero of independence, stands here, looking towards St. Peter's Cathedral. The cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as is the sumptuous town hall. Right next door, the Bremen Musicians invite you to take a souvenir photo. Böttcherstraße, an architectural highlight brimming with surprises, leads to Schlachte Promenade. Just a few steps separate the Schlachte Promenade from the Schnoor district, the medieval old town with its narrow streets and picturesque little houses.

Back on board, evening at leisure in the city.

Bremen Nienburg Minden
Early morning departure for Nienburg. Morning sailing on the Weser. This German river is the result... see+ of the union of two rivers (the Werra and the Fulda) which meet in Lower Saxony. After a 452 km journey, it empties into the North Sea.

Early afternoon arrival and optional transfer to Nienburg, the "red city". The heart of this 1,000-year-old historic town is the Old Town, with its half-timbered, Renaissance and red-brick facades. Nienburg's town hall, a magnificent building from the Weser Renaissance period, is also located here. Nienburg's main church, a three-aisled church in the North German brick Gothic style, was consecrated in 1441. The church tower, a 72 m-high neo-Gothic edifice, is the symbol of the town and was built at the end of the 19th century. The city's oldest building is probably the Stockturm. This is the remains of the moated castle of the Counts of Hoya.

Meanwhile, the ship sails on to Stolzenau. Return on board and sail to Minden.

Departure for Hannover. Optional tour of Hanover. On this bus tour, you'll discover the many facets... see+ of the capital of Lower Saxony. You'll see landmarks such as the new town hall, the market church and the Anzeiger building. The old town and its typical alleyways reveal magnificent half-timbered houses. Further afield, you'll discover Hanover's magnificent green spaces, such as the famous Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen, home to one of the few Baroque ensembles, and Lake Masch, popular with locals for its watersports activities and shoreline festivals. Back on board in Anderten and continuation of the cruise to Minden. Afternoon sailing on the "Mittellandkanal" (or Ems-Weser-Elbe canal), which links the Ems, Weser and Elbe rivers, following a west-to-east route through the great northern plain. Construction took 46 years and was completed in 1939. Gala evening.

First mentioned in a manuscript in 805 A.D., the capital of Saxony-Anhalt is surprisingly diverse, with a history spanning more than 1,200 years. You'll discover Magdeburg Cathedral and the Cloister of Our Lady, Magdeburg's most outstanding historical monuments. You'll also see the green citadel with its colorful facade, the market square with its equestrian statue of the Magdeburg horseman, and the town hall with its bronze portal. Free time before returning to the ship. Return to Magdeburg. Evening at leisure.

Early morning departure for Potsdam. Morning sailing on the Elbe, then on the Elbe-Havel canal.... see+ Early afternoon arrival in Brandenburg. Optional tour of Potsdam and the gardens of the Sans-Souci Palace. The tour begins with the gardens of the Sans-Souci Palace. With its 500 hectares of parkland and 150 buildings erected between 1730 and 1916, Potsdam's palace and park complex is an exceptional artistic entity. Walk up the flower-lined avenues and staircases to the large terrace, home to the Sans-Souci Palace. Then on to Cecilienhof Castle, famous for the Potsdam Conference held here in 1945. Stroll around the castle before returning to the Dutch quarter of Potsdam. This picturesque complex of 134 Dutch houses with brick gables was built around 1730 to house the Dutch workforce invited to Potsdam by Frederick William I. Free time before returning to the ship. Evening dance on board.

These contrasts between historic buildings and contemporary architecture characterize the city and tell the story of an entire nation, from the Brandenburg Gate to the Chancellery. In the morning, optional excursion to Charlottenburg Palace, Discover the magic of rococo at... see+ Charlottenburg Palace. This residence was an important part of the Hohenzollern dynasty. It was commissioned by Queen Sophie-Charlotte of Brandenburg, second wife of King Frederick I of Prussia, at the end of the 17th century. The queen wished to create a holiday resort and commissioned Arnold Nering to design a palace in the Italian Baroque style. You'll visit the apartments of King Frederick 1st and his wife, richly decorated with sculptures, tapestries and furniture from China. Also on display are the crown jewels, the goldsmith's cabinet and the mausoleum in which the members of the Hohenzollern family are laid to rest. Afternoon at leisure in Berlin. Departure by coach for a guided tour of the city. Amsterdam is one of the world's most extraordinary small cities. From its canals and world-famous museums to its many sights and historical treasures, Amsterdam is one of Europe's most romantic and surprising... see+ capitals. Stop at the Riecker Mill, a windmill located on the banks of the Amstel River to the south of the city. The mill was built in 1636 in the village of Sloten. Pumping of the polder water was taken over by an electric pumping station in 1932, and the mill was subsequently dismantled when the polder was dug up to create, among other things, Lake Het Nieuw Meer. In 1961, the mill was re-erected some 8 kilometers away on the banks of the Amstel, between the Kalfjeslaan and Borcht roads. The banks of the Amstel at this point are much frequented by tourists and walkers, and it's a prime location for an old Dutch windmill. A statue of Rembrandt has been erected next to the windmill as a reminder that the painter drew many pictures on the banks of this river. Then visit the famous flower market. You'll find thousands of fresh flowers, as well as bulbs of the famous tulip (with the gouda ball, probably the best idea for a souvenir gift), shrubs, plants... The countless varieties will make you dizzy. Return by coach.
