Bergen
Your Norwegian adventure begins in Bergen, Norway's cultural and artistic centre.
In many ways,... see+ Bergen resembles a living medieval museum. Founded by King Olaf III in 1070, Bergen was Norway's capital for many years. As you stroll through its cobbled streets, you'll notice that this bustling city has lost none of its historic charm. Depending on how much time you have, you can take a funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen. At the top, you can enjoy spectacular views of Bergen, the neighbouring fjords and the surrounding mountains.
Meet up in the early afternoon at the quay where your ship is ready to depart. Once on board and settled into your cabin or suite, you'll get to know your crew. You'll get to know each member of the team, who will be giving talks and organising onboard activities throughout your voyage.
Enjoy a drink in the ship's two-storey panoramic lounge and get to know your fellow passengers. As the ship leaves Bergen and enters Hjeltefjord, your picturesque adventure along the Norwegian coast begins.

Bergen Molde
Molde is the capital and commercial centre of Romsdalen, which lies on the southern coast of the... see+ Romsdal peninsula. We've called at this port many times before on our Coastal Express itinerary, but this time the stopover will be much longer to give you plenty of time to explore the town.

Organised by our team of guides, a number of optional activities will give you an even richer Molde experience. Accessible nearby on an optional excursion, the Atlantic Highway is an icon of the Norwegian coast that often features in Hollywood films.

For the best panoramic views in the region, join us for a hike to the Varden viewpoint, following the path from the town centre. Once there, you can look down on the town from a height of 402 metres and admire the 222 snow-capped peaks on the other side of Moldefjord.

If you prefer to stay in town, you can visit the Romsdal Museum, one of Norway's largest folk museums, around ten minutes from the town centre.

Molde Rorvik
The Vikna archipelago is made up of a string of around 6,000 islands, islets and reefs. We will be... see+ stopping off at Inner-Vikna, the largest of these islands. We plan to dock in the port town of Rørvik mid-morning, where we'll spend most of the day.

The town and its surroundings have a rich history. There are burial mounds dating back to ancient times. The region's maritime heritage is well documented in Rørvik's many museums, including the Norwegian Coastal Museum.

Cod is another important export, and is the focus of a festival organised by the town hall in March. This species of fish is particularly common in the archipelago's waters during the winter. It's the perfect opportunity to indulge in fresh cod cakes!

Rorvik Lodingen
The administrative centre of a municipality of the same name, Lødingen is a village on the... see+ south-western shore of Hinnøya, with a population of less than 2,000. It's a port where our ships used to call when they travelled our first coastal routes. Coming back here is a kind of homecoming for us.

We'll dock around midday and use Lødingen as a base to explore the island of Hinnøya, Norway's largest island south of Svalbard. Take a stroll along the streets near the harbour and admire the traditional red fishing huts, or rorbu, that line the shore. As you walk, you'll no doubt notice the soothing atmosphere of village life.

The highlight of this visit will be discovering the fjords and incredible mountains for which the Norwegian coast is famous. Breaking away from Andfjord, Gullesfjord cuts through the north side of Hinnøya, bordered by pristine mountain ranges. The area is popular with campers, who stay in camps or cabins and fish for cod in the fjord in winter.

From Lødingen, you can join a number of optional excursions, including a fishing trip with locals, an immersive Sámi experience to learn about their culture and history, or a visit to Dampskipsbrygga, Lødingen's old wharf.

Lodingen Alta
Alta is one of the largest coastal towns we visit, with a population of over 10,000. The River Alta... see+ is one of Norway's best salmon rivers and, as such, a famous attraction in the town. Large salmon are regularly caught here, some as big as 24 kilos. You won't regret trying the fresh salmon grilled in one of the local restaurants.

At 70 degrees north, this town is still a long way from the Arctic Circle. The region is known for offering good visibility of the Aurora Borealis, so get your camera ready. If the skies are clear and the conditions are right, you should be able to take some amazing photos of the lights dancing above you.

You can find out more about this incredible natural light show at the Cathedral of the Northern Lights, which can be visited on our optional guided tour of the city. The cathedral even has an exhibition showing how Alta became the epicentre of groundbreaking research into the Northern Lights between the 19th and 20th centuries. The tour also includes a visit to the Alta Museum, dedicated to the largest concentration of rock art in Northern Europe, at the tip of the Alta Fjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The abundance of snow in winter makes it possible to enjoy truly authentic Arctic excursions, including dog-sledding. Alta's snow and climate also create the perfect conditions for building and maintaining the Igloo Hotel, located on the banks of the River Alta.

You'll have the chance to visit the world's most northerly ice hotel, built from snow and ice every winter and sculpted with different artistic themes by local sculptors. Head to the hotel's ice bar, decorated with handcrafted ice sculptures, and order a drink from an ice glass. You won't need ice!

Alta Honningsvag
Honningsvåg is the most northerly town on the continent, with a rather unusual landscape where... see+ trees and bushes are rare. This northern region has long winters and heavy snowfalls, so get ready for some fantastic winter scenery and activities.

Feel the snow crunch under your snowshoes as you trek across the plains. You might even try your hand at ice fishing, a much-loved winter tradition in the far north. Try some king crab. This local speciality is caught in the waters around Honningsvåg and served all year round. Admire local art in the Once Upon a Dream gallery, and don't miss the Honningsvåg church. This is the oldest building in the region, dating back to 1885.

The highlight of any trip to Honningsvåg is a visit to the North Cape. It's one of the most northerly points in continental Europe, and as we're heading there in winter, we'll be able to get around by snowmobile. Being so close to Norway's northern border and looking out over the Barents Sea under the polar night sky is a truly special experience. Add to that the sublime Aurora Borealis dancing overhead and you're guaranteed an unforgettable experience.
The cape is identified by a famous globe which deserves to be immortalised by a selfie or two... or more! When you feel like it, head to the North Cape Hall to warm up and enjoy the short film and various exhibitions that will teach you more about life in the High Arctic.

Having reached the most northerly point of our journey, we will leave the port in the evening to turn around and begin our descent southwards.

Excursion to the North Cape
The North Cape plateau stretches 307 meters above the Arctic Ocean. Welcome to Europe's northernmost point. Unlike previous passengers who had to climb to the top of the cliff, a bus from Honningsvåg will take you to your destination. You'll have plenty of... see+ time to stroll around the plateau and take photos in front of the monumental globe.
Enjoy a generous breakfast buffet in the North Cape Hall as you gaze out over the Barents Sea, before experiencing the four seasons of the North Cape through a panoramic film. In the North Cape Hall, inside the cliff, you can buy handcrafted gifts for your loved ones in the gift store and visit the chapel and small museum.
Departing from Honningsvåg, we take an underwater tunnel that links the town to the mainland. The bus then takes us south along the majestic Porsangerfjord, before heading back along the coast to Hammerfest, one of the world's most northerly towns.
