Morning guided tour of Lisbon. Immerse yourself in Lisbon's old quarters, where streetcars from another era criss-cross the city. You'll be amazed by its architectural treasures, where Manueline art plays a predominant role. And don't forget the famous Portuguese navigators who watch over the city from the top of their monument to discovery.
Afternoon panoramic tour by coach, where you'll discover a lively and atypical city. Perched on a hill, you'll see the Sao Jorge castle towering over the pastel-colored houses of the Alfama district, as well as the maze of picturesque alleyways leading down to the Tagus River.
Return to your hotel at the end of the day.

Late morning drive to Coimbra, Portugal's former capital and today the city of arts and... see+ letters.
In the afternoon, visit Coimbra. Built into a hillside on the banks of the Mondego River, Coimbra is one of Europe's oldest fortresses of learning, alongside the Sorbonne, Oxford and Salamanca. The university, founded in the 12th century, is built on top of the Alcaçova hill and contains some real gems. From its prestigious past, Coimbra has retained a historic heart that bears the hallmarks of the Middle Ages. It's a delight to stroll through its charming alleyways. Continuation to Porto.

Optional authentic excursion / experience: Porto "by night". During a panoramic coach tour, you'll discover one of Europe's oldest cities, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Maritime epics opened it up to the world and gradually transformed it. Today, the city reveals the splendor of its past, and you'll see the Sao Bento train station, famous for its azulejos.

Morning sailing to Régua. You'll sail through the Douro Valley. Bordered by vineyards for almost... see+ 200 km, the golden river reveals itself to travelers, with its wild, unspoiled nature. To tame the river, dams and locks calm its course. You'll pass through the gigantic Carrapatello lock, the highest in Europe at 35m. Arrival in Régua in the afternoon.
Optional authentic excursion/experience: Lamego. A panoramic coach tour of this small town with its pretty 16th- and 18th-century bourgeois houses, before reaching the Baroque sanctuary of Notre-Dame-des-Remèdes, 600m above the town. The most courageous can climb the 700 steps of the double-flight staircase, whose 9 landings are adorned with azulejos.

Regua Pinhao Porto Antigo
In the morning, optional authentic excursion/experience: Douro Museum and olive oil and wine... see+ tasting at a Quinta. Housed in a building emblematic of the region, this museum traces the history of the Douro wine-growing region, a World Heritage Site, and provides an insight into the cultivation and exploitation of wine in the valley. The tour continues with a discovery of olive oil. Olive trees, symbols of the Mediterranean and southern cultures, are omnipresent on the banks of the Douro, alternating with vineyards planted in staircases. Visit a quinta that produces both the famous Porto wine and its olive grove to produce oil, a complementarity of production that reflects navigation in the valley of the Golden River. Discover production methods and taste different varieties of Port wine and olive oil.
Afternoon sailing to Porto Antigo. Overnight stopover.

Morning sail to Porto. Enjoy this last look at the magnificent Douro Valley and let yourself be... see+ transported to these lands shaped by man.
Optional excursions:
Authentic: Porto. Departure by coach for a guided tour of Porto. You'll visit the Stock Exchange Palace, where you'll see the gilded hall covered in gold leaf and the Moorish salon inspired by the Alhambra, followed by the Sao Francisco church, a Gothic and Baroque masterpiece. At the end of the tour, you'll head to one of the city's famous wine cellars for a tasting session.
Experience: Porto by streetcar and the Portuguese streetcar museum. Take a streetcar ride through Porto's picturesque streets to the mouth of the Douro River. Stop off at the streetcar museum to see a unique collection retracing a century of Porto streetcar history. The tour ends with a tasting of local specialties. Return to the ship.

Free morning in Porto.
Optional excursions:
Authentic: Guimarães. Departure by coach to... see+ Guimarães. Considered the cradle of Portugal, Guimarães was the birthplace of Alphonse Henriques, the country's first king. The medieval heart of the city, located within the city walls, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Experience: hike to Vila Nova de Gaia and wine tasting. This unusual walk will take you through Porto's old town, in its lower part with the Douro quays lined with unusual houses decorated with azulejos. Then on to Vila Nova de Gaia, where you'll be transported back to the 17th century, when English merchants set up their winery here. This is where you'll find some of Porto's most famous wineries. Cellar visit followed by wine tasting. Return to the ship.

Set off on an excursion to discover Porto by night. Enjoy the beauty of one of Europe's oldest cities, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on a panoramic bus tour. World-renowned among wine lovers, Porto is beautifully situated at the mouth of the Rio Douro. Known... see+ as the "city of granite," its narrow streets wind between the hills and the meandering river. It has managed to preserve the riches of its commercial past. But Portugal's second city is also a young, welcoming city, the capital of a region that is both wine-growing and oceanic. You will of course stop to visit Sao Bento Station, famous for its azulejos. These ceramic tiles form large frescoes that narrate key moments in the city's past or depict traditional scenes from Portuguese life. Return to the coach. NOTES The order of visits may be changed. Departure by coach from Regua to Lamego for a guided tour by coach and on foot of the city center. Lamego is a pretty little episcopal and commercial town. You will discover the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios, whose 18th-century whitewashed... see+ façade highlights the elegant curves of the granite and dominates the staircase with crossed railings, decorated with azulejos and bristling with a multitude of pinnacles. The first stone of the building was laid on February 14, 1750, giving rise to a temple that dominates the town from the top of its 700 steps and offers a magnificent view of the misty mountains. Return to the side of the boat in Régua. NOTES Bring good walking shoes. Appropriate attire is required to enter the sanctuary. The order of visits may be changed. Times are given as a guide only.

Depart on foot from the boat accompanied by our guide for a visit to the Douro Museum. Located on the side of the boat, this museum combines tradition and modernity, allowing you to discover the fascinating history of the Douro and the winemaking methods of... see+ this beautiful region, classified as a World Heritage Site. After the visit, departure by coach to Quinta do Tedo, a magnificent 18th-century estate consisting of two terraced manor houses offering a magnificent view of the Douro River on one side and the Tedo River on the other. From Vila Nova de Gaia, depart by coach to Porto city center. You will board the Porto tram and discover the city along the tram line that will take you to the mouth of the Douro River. The tour will include a stop at the Tram Museum (Museu do Carro... see+ Electrico), housed in a former thermoelectric power station along the Douro River. The museum will take you on a journey through time. It has a rich collection of trams and various means of transport once used in Porto. From Porto, you will travel by coach to the city of Guimarães. Guided foot tour of Guimarães, a charming town where medieval and modern neighborhoods have developed. You will have the opportunity to discover the Nossa Senhora de Oliveira Church,... see+ the most important religious building in the city. It dominates the square and is characterized by a diversity of architectural styles (exteriors). Then, visit the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, built in the 16th century by the first Duke of Braganza. The architecture of this palace is one of the most remarkable on the Iberian Peninsula.
