The southern bastide of Condom
Located in the department of Gers, in the Midi-Pyrénées region, the town of Valence-sur-Baïse is an old bastide founded at the end of the 13th century on the border of the territory of Count Géraud d'Armagnac and the Flaran Abbey. Left in ruins around the Bastide de Valence, you can still see the 8-meter-high ramparts from that period, as well as one of its gates, the Porte d'Spain, known as the "hedgehog".
Illuminated in the evening, these walls offer pleasant moments for night-time strollers who, after marveling at these historical remains, are invited to dine inone of the restaurants surrounding the arcades of the church of Valence-sur-Baïse. You will be able to sample Condom's culinary specialties and local products such as duck Alicuit, goose foie gras and Gascon beef, accompanied by floc de Gascogne, a wine made from Gascon grapes.
