Sailboat charter from Marseille with or without a skipper

Last updated on 8 April 2025

Why go sailing in Marseille?

The Phocaean city is undoubtedly the sunniest French city. Cosmopolitan, Marseille appeals to shopping enthusiasts and gourmets alike. The city offers numerous opportunities for cultural discoveries, but what pleases most is its openness to incomparable panoramas. A sailboat charter in Marseille is the perfect way to admire the city from a different angle, but above all to set off to conquer the secret sites that surround it.

The best places to sail in Marseille

With a maritime front of more than 50 kilometers, Marseille is surrounded by multiple anchorages. The Pointe Rouge is an excellent point of departure for your sailing excursions. Make a stop at the port of Eoube, which is bathed in a romantic atmosphere. Continue on to the port of Niolon, an anchorage at the entrance to the cove, allowing you easy access to the seabed. A little further on, the Baie des Singes is surrounded by white rocks that harmonize with the immaculate sand. Sheltered by two cliffs, the Calanque des Anglais is little known because it is quite difficult to access. Marseille also provides easy access to Cassis, the Riou archipelago, the Calanque de Sormiou and the Calanque d'En Vau.

Practical information on navigation in the area

The harbor of Marseille includes 4 large and 10 small marinas. The depths of the coves vary from around 3 to 10 meters. The Vieux Port has a total of close to 3,200 berths at the quayside and on pontoons. Ideally located in the city center, it is home to the Joliette quays, mainly intended for sailboats. The ideal period to rent a sailboat in Marseille with or without a skipper is from May to October. The weather conditions are excellent, allowing you to freely enjoy your trip out to sea. Note that demand is particularly high in the middle of summer. So remember to book your boat in advance.
