In the open sea off the Croatian coast, in southern Dalmatia, Korkula is a pearl with many charms. Its main town, which bears the same name, is a veritable open-air museum, and the rest of the island is a succession of wild, rural landscapes. Berthing there is an opportunity to escape to the heart of an enchanting environment where time has no hold.
A yacht charter from Korkula will allow you to tour the island and discover nooks and crannies that would otherwise be difficult to reach. Whether you are with your partner, family or friends, boat trips under the radiant Adriatic sun are unforgettable moments, especially when you are far from civilization.
In the heart of the old walled city, you will enjoy strolling through the narrow streets. For a panoramic view of the city, climb the tower of the main gate. And for a taste of Croatian culinary specialties, head to one of the restaurants on the seafront. To swim in the blue waters of the Adriatic Sea, board your yacht charter in Croatia, stop at a small cove and fully enjoy the pleasures of lazing on a beach far from the crowds.
Stroll through the old town
Stopping off at Korkula also means visiting its small villages, which hide a few historical gems. Inhabited since the Neolithic period, the island is home to many treasures that you can discover as you stroll through the old town of Korčula. Thanks to its proximity to the marina, the town is easily accessible by sea.
Occupying the eastern coast of the island, the old town has remained intact with its stone buildings and imposing monuments. Standing on the side of the main street is the 15th-century Saint Mark's Cathedral, which is distinguished by its magnificent rose window and clock. The house of the famous navigator Marco Polo, looming in the heart of the city, the chapel of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, the 16th-century Ismaili Palace and the Gabrielic Palace, which houses the municipal museum, are also must-sees in this ancient city.
Time for a swim at Korkula
With its rocky and steep coastline, the island of Korkula does not have many beaches, unlike the other islands of Croatia. Accessible by boat or on foot, these beaches, such as Pržina, offer families a great place to swim. Located in the east, this sandy beach is just a few minutes from Lumbarda. Vela Prizna is another sandy beach in the southeast of the island, offering a magnificent view of the island of Lastovo. Protected from the wind, this family beach is quickly crowded during the high season.
A succession of wild coves can be found to the south-east of Korkula, such as Pupnatska cove. One of the island's prettiest beaches, Pupnatska is surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation and caressed by a crystalline sea. To the northeast, not far from Lumbarda, Bilin Zal beach is very popular with the local population and families.
