The most beautiful seaside resorts in the Pays de la Loire
Bordering Brittany and Normandy to the north and New Aquitaine to the south, the Pays de la Loire boasts a 450-kilometer coastline dotted with a succession of renowned seaside resorts. The seaside resort of La Baule is one of the most famous in the department. Part of the Côte d'Amour, in the west of France, La Baule is located halfway between the Loire and the Guérande salt marshes. Its beaches are packed at the end of summer, such as the main beach stretching 5 km along the main road. Ideal for families, it is home to several beach clubs and sailing centers. For yachtsmen, La Baule will be an excellent point of departure for reaching the Guérande peninsula, the domain of the salt marshes.
Located in the department of Vendée, Les Sables d'Olonne offers various sporting activities on its 3-kilometer south-facing beach. Once proudly wearing the cap of the Most Beautiful Beach in Europe, the beach at Les Sables d'Olonne is the place to go if you want to learn to sail. In a sailboat, sailors will head west where an 11 km wild coast hides the beaches of Aubraie and Paracou where you can enjoy a little game of foot fishing with the family.
In Loire-Aquitaine lies the seaside resort of Pornic. Located on the Jade Coast, hauled in by the bay of Bourgneuf, Pornic has many attractions, including 14 km of sandy beaches and small, isolated coves that can be discovered by boat or on foot, such as the beaches of Fontaines aux Bretons. Lovers of tranquility, set a course for the island of Noirmoutier, where 40 km of coastline dotted with wild coves and sandy beaches such as Plage des Dames await you.
