La Ciotat is a charming little Provençal port, perfectly situated and well equipped, full of interesting places to discover: the famous Figuerolles cove, the Mugel botanical park, the Soubeyranes cliffs... you can discover all this thanks to your yacht charter in the Mediterranean with a skipper
Why set off on a cruise from La Ciotat?
Located in the Bouches-du-Rhône, on the coast of the Calanques National Marine Park, La Ciotat lies at the end of a bay and boasts a very beautiful side of the boat. This charming town is the ideal point of departure for a maritime excursion to the most beautiful corners of Provence Alpes Côte D'azur.
Before boarding the catamaran or sailboat that you have chartered for your cruise, be sure to visit the must-see places in La Ciotat. In particular, visit Le Mugel, an exceptional botanical park bathed by the Mediterranean Sea. Covering an area of almost 16 hectares, Le Mugel is a vast space where wilderness coexists with perfectly manicured gardens. Other unmissable spots include the Calanque de Figuerolles and the cliffs of Soubeiran on the coast between La Ciotat and Cassis.

The most beautiful landscapes to discover from La Ciotat
From La Ciotat, which is located on the Quai François Mitterrand, you can choose a sailing itinerary to the west to reach Marseille, or to the east towards Toulon. Your sailboat (or catamaran, depending on your choice) will be waiting for you in the port of La Ciotat with its skipper, if your sailing experience does not allow you to sail without one.
The sailing itinerary leading to Toulon is very pleasant and will take you through superb places populated by coves and overlooked by typical landscapes. Among the ports of call worthy of interest is Saint Cyr sur Mer. This commune extends to the eastern exit of La Ciotat and has various anchorages. The anchorage of the Baie des Lecques is particularly favorable and offers a beautiful view of the hills. There is no problem with the view of the space because the entire bay forms a natural anchorage. The other anchorage points are located at the entrance to the port and at La Madrague, but the port is not accessible to boats over 8 meters. A little further down the coast, Bandol is a pleasant stopover. There, you can drop anchor in the harbor and throughout the bay of Bandol. The seabed is even there. Finally, set a course for Toulon, where you will find an anchorage in the harbor located very close to the city center. You can also drop anchor in Lazaret Bay.
Sailing itineraries to Marseille on a sailboat charter also have some beautiful stops in store for you, with anchorages in the heart of the calanques. Among the ports of call, we recommend Cassis, where the anchorage area is in the calanque of Port-Miou and is home to many beaches. In Marseille, you will find various anchorages, one of the most pleasant of which is located in the Sormiou cove, between Cap Redon and Le Cancéou. From Sormiou, you can sail in the open sea past the most beautiful coves in Marseille

Some practical information about sailing from La Ciotat
For the most pleasant cruise possible in the Bouches-du-Rhône, we recommend that you favor the period from April to September. You will find a typical Mediterranean climate for a yacht charter of one day or more.
Throughout this part of the coast, the size of the ports varies greatly. While the marina in Marseille has a capacity of 3,200 boats, the one in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer has only 200 berths. Further down, the marina in Cassis can accommodate 396 boats, and the port of Lazaret in Toulon 925.
The commune of La Ciotat also caters for party lovers. Boaters and water sports enthusiasts will be delighted to attend the Sports and Boating Festival. Expected in the Espace des Capucins in June, this event will give you a taste of the pleasures of sailing, kitesurfing, snorkeling, sea kayaking, windsurfing and other water sports.
