Yacht charter

Last updated on 8 April 2025

Fano is a magnificent city in the center of Italy that enjoys a privileged location on the side of the Adriatic Sea. Its port is located at the mouth of the Metauro River and is dominated by hills. to the east is Sassonia beach, and to the west is the Lido. A jazz festival, "Fano Jazz by the Sea", is held there every year at the end of July, allowing the city to shine throughout the world.

This seaside resort is very popular with many historical figures, and counts among its famous visitors the writer Montaigne, who stayed there in 1581. Those who have opted for a yacht charter in Fano will be able to discover an exceptional architectural heritage before exploring some of the Mediterranean islands, such as Sardinia by sailboat.

The first monument to visit is the Arch of Augustus, dating from the 1st century and consisting of a carriage gate and two pedestrian passages. It has been the symbol of the city for close to 2,000 years. Among the religious buildings, the cathedral of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption and the baroque church of San Pietro in Valle are the most remarkable. The Malatestiano fortress, comprising a Renaissance-style palace and a courtyard garden, is also worth a visit. To take some souvenir photos, head to the fountain of fortune, featuring a representation of the goddess of fortune.

Events not to be missed

A lively and bustling city, Fano knows how to entertain its visitors. In addition to the Jazz Festival, numerous events take place in this magnificent Italian town. The Fano Carnival, eagerly awaited every February, is certainly one of the highlights. As famous as the Venice Carnival, it has its origins in the Middle Ages and promises a spectacle unlike any other in the world! Parades of floats, masquerades, carnival figures, lively music and fireworks set the city ablaze for the duration of the festivities. But the Fano Carnival is particularly famous for the rain of sweets, pralines and other treats thrown by the floats into the crowd.

Lovers of good food will not want to miss the famous In gir per Fan walk. It is a beautiful 1.5 km stroll that invites you to discover the city's most beautiful historical attractions while tasting the best local products. Starting from the Malatesta fortress, head for the church of Sant'Antonio Abate where you can enjoy some Acqualagna truffles. Don't miss the polenta of San Costanzo, the lasagne of Piazza Marconi, not to mention the wines from the region's prestigious cellars.

Immerse yourself in a medieval atmosphere during the famous San Bartolomeo Fair, held every year at the end of August. More than 270 exhibitors, colonizing the streets of Fano from the port to the city center, will offer you products of all kinds. Linger in the Place de Gerboni during this event to continue your little gastronomic break. But what makes the San Bartolomeo Fair unique are the 3 days of festivities that immerse you in a medieval atmosphere with drum performances and archery competitions. Children will even have the opportunity to participate in the making of medieval swords.
