- Diocletian's Palace: Built in 305, this huge fortress is a must-see during your trip to Split! It is impressive. Extremely well preserved, this palace now houses bars, restaurants and shops, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- The Cathedral of Saint Domnius: Also very well preserved, it is almost intact and is located within Diocletian's Palace! You will be able to see it from your boat, its 57-meter-high bell tower overlooks the city. Climb to the top of it and you will have an absolutely splendid panorama for only 5 kunas, the old local currency, or less than 1USD.
- The Riva promenade: La Riva is the name given to the side of the sea in Split. A true paradise for pedestrians, the quay has been completely refurbished. How do I get to Split?
The fastest, easiest and most common way to get to Split is obviously by plane. Direct flights are available from Orly, otherwise you will have to make a stopover. Split airport is located in Kaštel Štafilić, 20 km from the city center. You can take a taxi to Split, which will cost you USD40 for a journey of around 30 minutes, a shuttle bus for USD4, or you can get there by bus. The journey will take a little longer, around 1 hour, but the ticket will cost you just USD2.50.
The train is another alternative. The rail network serves the city of Split thanks to lines from France and many other major European cities. From France, the journey takes a day but you can do it at night on the side of the boat! It is also possible to reach the city of Split by ferry from Croatian ports, but not only! There are connections with Italy from Ancona, for example, or even Greece.
For a more economical trip, the bus or a blablacar seem to be a suitable option. But keep in mind that your trip will be long if you leave from a European city. You may even have to take several buses.
