"The landscapes were very pleasant, a big change from what we're used to seeing in the Mediterranean, on the French Riviera. "It wasn't very crowded, which was very pleasant for enjoying the peace and quiet," Julien, a Filovent customer, who went on a week-long cruise in mid-July with his girlfriend, tells me.

Thanks to its ideal geographical location, Trapani is the perfect place for your next vacation in Sicily, between the sea and the mountains. The landscapes of this region are breathtaking, where fauna and flora blend together to the delight of its visitors.

What to do in Trapani?

Before boarding your chartered yacht, take some time to explore the city. Historically, Trapani is renowned for the extraction and trade of salt and marble, as well as coral work. The salt marshes, exploited since ancient times, are made up of salt flats that turn from blue to pink in the sunlight. inland, several historical and cultural sites are stops to explore during an unforgettable hike lasting a few hours or even a whole day. Don't miss a visit to the sanctuary of the Annunziata, a monastic site dating from the 14th century.

Trapani is an ideal city for strolling. Arriving by sea, linger on the port, next to the historic center of the city where several monuments are gathered. Starting from the Cavarretta palace, overlooking Torrearsa street, passing by the cathedral of Trapani, not forgetting the Triton fountain or the basilica-sanctuary Maria Santissima Annunziata, you will have plenty to do!

The most beautiful ports of call from Trapani

A yacht charter in Sicily is the perfect opportunity to visit the atypical villages of Sicily. It is also an opportunity to discover the Aegadian Islands, an archipelago with a unique character. Between the touristy Favignana, the typical Marettimo and the wild Levanzo, you won't have a moment to be bored! Make the most of each stopover to go inland and discover the true character of each of these islands. "We set sail for the Aegadian Islands, where we visited the islands of Favignana and Levanzo. The landscapes were superb! There are many buoys for quietly anchoring boats, it's very practical and you're more serene," Julien confides in me.

Favignana

Comfortably settled on the side of your yacht chartered from Trapani, adjust your course for the famous Favignana. Shaped like a butterfly, you will easily recognize the first island of the Egadi archipelago. We recommend visiting this little island by bike to discover all the surprises it has in store. The Florio palace datingfrom the 19th century ( ) and the island's dream beaches and coves will make you appreciate this stopover. Thanks to your boat, you will have the chance to access many wild coves that are inaccessible from land. You will be able to escape the tourist crowds while relaxing on a cove or a city beach. You will have the choice between Cala Azzurra,Lido Burrone or Praia to take a dip!

Marettimo

Quite different from its neighbor, Marettimo has nothing to envy it. Smaller, greener and wilder, this island far from the mainland attracts hiking enthusiasts. You will discover superb anchorages on your way, so don't hesitate to go and explore them more closely. If you like diving, Marettimo will delight you, as the island is teeming with hundreds of very rare underwater species. Put on your mask and snorkel and go and discover them, and set off in search of the island's sea caves!

Levanzo

Admire the sunset from Cala Tramontana on the island of Levanzo, a true wild paradise. This island is the oldest of the three, as evidenced by the graffiti and cave paintings in the Génois cave. During your visit, you will feel as if you have traveled back thousands of years to the Paleolithic era. Enjoy a stroll in the fresh air through the pine forest close-hauled to the sea. After your walk, relax on one of the island's beaches, with a choice of Cala del Faraglione, Cala Tramontana or even Cala Fredda!

When to set off on your cruise to Trapani?

Trapani enjoys the pleasant Mediterranean climate that Sicily offers all year round. We recommend that you go on a cruise in Sicily between the monthsof April and November. During the high season, temperatures can rise to 35°C. The sailing conditions in Sicily are good, but beware of the frequent southerly winds in this region.

How do I get there?

To get to Trapani, you canfly. From France, many airports offer flights to Palermo, with or without stopover(s), located 85 kilometers from Trapani. Depending on your cruise dates, you can find direct, low-cost flights lasting around 2.5 hours from the airports of Paris CDG and Orly, Nantes, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Nice and Toulouse. You can also take the ferry from the port of Toulon. Ferries make the connection daily directly to Trapani.

Once you arrive at Palermo airport, you have two options for getting to Trapani: take the bus or a taxi. From the airport, he will drop you off at the marina in Trapani or in the city center if you want to visit before boarding your boat. The journey takes just under an hour, so enjoy the scenery. You will have the chance to pass through several nice little villages for around USD30. For a more reasonable budget, between 10 and 15USD, you also have the option of taking a direct bus for a journey time of one hour.

What kind of boat license is required?

The regulations concerning navigation in Sicily are relatively simple. You must be in possession of a license if your boat goes more than 6 miles from shelter. Please note that a license is not compulsory for boats traveling less than 6 miles or for motor boats with an engine power of less than 40 hp.
