Punta Ala sailboat charter with or without skipper

Last updated on 8 April 2025

Why rent a sailboat in Punta Ala?

A paradise for sailing enthusiasts, Punta Ala is the ideal destination for those who want to have fun at the side of the boat and at the same time discover breathtaking scenery. Thanks to its strategic position, Punta Ala is the ideal starting point for sailing to the island of Elba, just a few nautical miles away, as well as to the other islands of the Tuscan archipelago and Corsica. From Punta Ala, you can reach various destinations and also explore the precious Maremma coast, a land rich in traditions, where nature grows unspoiled.

What is there to see in Punta Ala and the surrounding area?

Punta Ala, a renowned seaside resort, also known as the home port of Luna Rossa, is located in the Maremma stretch of the Tuscan coast. The best way to explore this region is to rent a sailboat in Punta Ala, a choice that will allow you to discover the largest marine protected area in Europe and the Tuscan Archipelago, made up of seven islands. Setting out from the modern, well-equipped marina of Punta Ala, just an hour and a half from Florence airport, you will see coves of golden sand surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and pine forests, bathed by the crystal-clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Before leaving, don't forget to visit the Hidalgo Tower and the Castle of Punta Ala. To discover all the beauties of this region, it is advisable to have at least a week, during which you can discover the most hidden bays. A short sail on the side of your boat will take you to the island of Elba, the third largest island in Italy. A little corner of paradise, with its villages on the side of the boat and its breathtaking views. Sailing south, you will find the island of Giglio, frequented in particular by sailors arriving from Argentario, another region famous for sailingfor sailing, Montecristo, the island made famous by the writer Alexandre Dumas, and Pianosa, where there is a maximum security prison. It should be noted that anchoring and fishing are prohibited in these last two islands, but visits are allowed to a limited number of people per day. To the north of Elba lies Capraia, an island of volcanic origin, with its dream beaches such as Cala della Mortola and Cala Rossa. From Punta Ala, it will also be possible to sail to Corsica.

Useful advice for sailing to Punta Ala

In the Punta Ala region, the main winds are the Sirocco and, in summer, the Mistral. The best season for sailing in Punta Ala is generally from May to October, although you can sail all year round. In summer, the climate is warm and temperate, with August being the hottest month of the year. Few currents disturb navigation in this region and you can enjoy your cruise with family or friends. If you have little sailing experience, you can rely on the sailboat charter in Punta Ala with a skipper and count on the experience of an expert at sea.
