For a great introduction, start your adventure at Risnjak National Park. Located very close to the city, in Gorski Kotar, the park occupies the most wooded and mountainous region of Croatia. Despite its relatively small size (63.5 km2), the reserve is home to a particularly diverse range of vegetation flourishing in the heart of the fir and oak forests. During your hike, you will come across a few deer, roe deer, brown bears and wild boars. You can also hike around the Učka Nature Park, a mountain range offering a magnificent view of the islands of Losinj and Cres from its peaks.
