Yacht charter in the Var

What type of boat should you choose for your charter?

  • Monohull sailboat charter: a monohull sailboat will offer you a more sporty experience and will allow you to reach secret coves only accessible by sea. For adventure and thrill seekers, a monohull sailboat is for you.
  • Catamaran charter: if you are looking for a relaxing cruise and want to prioritize space and comfort for your trip, we highly recommend a catamaran charter, which will offer you more stability.
  • Motor yacht charter: more accessible and less expensive, this option is ideal for a day charter.

Services offered for your yacht charter in the Var

  • Bareboat yacht charter: this option allows you to rent a boat for a fixed period, generally by the day, week or month. You are then free to sail as you please and discover the wonders of the Var in complete autonomy.
  • Yacht charter with skipper: If you have little or no sailing experience or you simply want to spend a relaxing vacation, Filovent offers you the option of renting your boat with a professional skipper. The skipper will know the sailing area and will show you some of the most beautiful places in the region.
  • Additional services: Many rental companies offer a wide range of additional services that you can book, such as fishing and diving equipment. You can also call on a crew if you wish, especially if you are renting a large boat, which usually includes a captain, a cook and a hostess. The crew will take care of you and make sure you have an unforgettable cruise!

Where to sail in the Var?

  • Bormes-les-Mimosas: From the comfort of your yacht charter, discover the surrounding towns such as Bormes-les-Mimosas. Stroll through the medieval village dating from the 12th century and then explore the famous Fort de Brégançon.
  • The Iles d'Or are also a stop not to be missed during your cruise to Le Lavandou, Porquerolles, Le Levant and Port Cros. Their heavenly and wild beaches and calm turquoise blue sea make these islands a true haven of peace. The area offers magnificent anchorages for a dream cruise, with a postcard-perfect setting, lulled by the song of the cicadas..
  • Hyères is also a very beautiful city full of surprises to discover. Indeed, only a few knots from Le Lavandou, this city renowned for its forts is one of the paradisiacal places of the French Riviera. Anchor in the port of Hyères and set off to discover the city's three forts: Fort de l'Estissac, Fort de Port-Man and Fort du Moulin. Each one has its own history and will take you back in time.
  • The Cap Lardat, Cap Taillat and Cap Camarat of the Saint-Tropez peninsula have been protected areas for decades. Rent a boat in the Mediterranean and explore its gulf and the mythical bay of Pampelonne, with its 5 km of fine sand where champagne flows freely.

When to sail in the Var?

In terms of the weather, temperatures are fairly mild throughout the year. The Var is an ideal destination for a yacht charter. While sailing in the Var, you may encounter two types of wind. The prevailing wind is a thermal breeze, created by the difference in temperature between the sea and the land when it is hot. Generally speaking, this wind picks up at the beginning of the afternoon and dies down at the end of the evening, which is ideal for sailing. The second wind is the Mistral. It can make sailing challenging because it blows in gusts of up to 100 kilometers per hour.

Here is an average of the temperatures encountered in recent years in the Var:

Air max (°C)12°13°15°17°C20°C24°27°27°24°20°16°13°

Our advice for a successful yacht charter:

  • Become familiar with local regulations: Before embarking on your sailboat charter, make sure you are familiar with the regulations in force in the region in terms of navigation zones, anchorages or protected areas.
  • Documents and formalities: If you are the skipper of the boat, make sure you have a boat license to present. In addition, we strongly advise you to take out damage waiver insurance even if you hire a skipper: in the event of damage to the boat, you are directly responsible, and damage waiver protects you from any unintentional damage.
