Located in the region of Thessaly, the city of Vólos is certainly the best point of departure for a sailing cruise in Greece. Considered the third most important port in Greece, Vølos also boasts some natural beauty spots that are well worth a visit. Located at the foot of Mount Pélion, the city is crossed by the Xirias, the Anavros and the Krausidonas, three rivers that flow into the Pagaséic Gulf and add a touch of beauty to the landscape.
There is also no shortage of beaches by the sea. Taking advantage of the yacht charter in Volos, boaters can veer off to their shortlist of nautical activities not far from the beautiful sandy beaches, such as Alykes beach or Anavros beach located in the park of the same name. An incredible marine reserve awaits diving enthusiasts in the Alonmisos National Marine Park.
From a historical point of view, Vólos is also home to a few relics to be discovered during a short stroll in the heart of this peaceful coastal town. The Athanasakeion Archaeological Museum, the archaeological site of ancient Dimini and the Thessaly Railway Museum will enlighten you on the city's landmark eras.
