Your stroll will take you to the top of the cliffs, where you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view. Crossing the Iroise deck, you can reach the Plougastel-Daoulas peninsula, revealing a wild and authentic landscape. Then linger at the Kerdéniel lookout point, where a magnificent panorama of the Brest strait, the Faou estuary and the Crozon peninsula awaits you. Finally, head to Pointe de l'Armorique, where a typical Breton crêperie awaits you for a well-deserved gourmet break! It is therefore an ideal starting point for renting a motorboat or sailboat.

Some navigation advice for your yacht charter in Brest

The climate in Brest is very changeable due to its location on the Atlantic Ocean coastline, nevertheless the best time for a cruise in Brittany is between April and October.

  • Spring is an ideal time to enjoy nature and the less busy harbor of Brest than in summer. Yacht charter prices are also more advantageous than in summer.
  • Summer is also a very pleasant time, with milder temperatures and the many boats criss-crossing the region, creating a friendly and festive atmosphere. Charter prices will be higher, so we advise you to book well in advance to reserve your cruise on the boat of your choice.
  • Autumn is also a good time to discover Brittany by boat, with beautiful colors and still pleasant weather. The region is less crowded than in summer, so sailing on the Atlantic will be calmer and prices will be more affordable.
  • In winter, temperatures are colder and it is therefore less interesting to sail, but it can allow you to discover Brittany from a different angle, with Christmas markets and illuminations in the streets.

Do you need a boat license for a sailboat or motorboat charter in Brest?

If you want to be the skipper of your own boat, it is important to know the following:

  • To rent a sailboat in Brest, you do not need a boat license, but you must have sufficient experience in sailing. You must be able to master the maneuvers, the adjustments, the safety rules and the weather.
  •  To rent a motorboat in Brest, you must have a boat license appropriate for the engine power and type of navigation. There are two types of boat licenses: the coastal license and the deep-sea license. The coastal license allows you to sail on a motorboat less than 24 meters long, up to 6 nautical miles (approximately 11 km) from shelter. The offshore license allows you to sail on a motorboat without distance or size restrictions. You can also request the services of a skipper for greater comfort and safety while sailing.
