Yacht charter

Last updated on 7 February 2024

What type of boat should you choose for your charter?

  • Monohull sailboat charter: a monohull sailboat will offer you a more sporty experience and allow you to reach secret coves only accessible by sea. For adventure and thrill seekers, a monohull sailboat is for you.
  • Catamaran charter: if you are looking for a relaxing cruise and want to prioritize space and comfort for your trip, we highly recommend a catamaran charter, which will offer you greater stability.
  • Motor yacht charter: more accessible and less expensive, this option is ideal for a day charter.

Services offered for your yacht charter in Kos

  • Bareboat yacht charter: this option allows you to rent a boat for a fixed period, generally by the day, week or month. You are then free to sail as you please and discover the wonders of Kos in complete autonomy.
  • Yacht charter with skipper: If you have little or no sailing experience or you simply want to spend a relaxing vacation, Filovent offers you the option of renting your boat with a professional skipper. The skipper will know the sailing area and will show you some of the most beautiful places in the region.
  • Additional services: Many rental companies offer a wide range of additional services that you can book, such as fishing and diving equipment. You can also hire a crew if you wish, especially if you are renting a large boat, which usually includes a captain, a cook and a hostess. The crew will take care of you and make sure you have an unforgettable cruise!

Where can you set sail from Kos?

  1. Patmos: Patmos is a concentration of natural beauty and history, preserved from mass tourism. There are many monuments to visit on the island, such as the ancient churches of Skala. At the top of the island of Patmos is the monastery of St. John the Theologian and the Cave of the Apocalypse in Chora. Both unmissable on the island, the monastery strongly marks the island's landscape.
  2. Kalymnos: Kalymnos is a small island in the heart of the Dodecanese that has retained its authentic and traditional character. Renowned as one of the best diving spots in Greece, it also attractsclimbing enthusiasts. Diving in Kalymnos, you will have the chance to see the last natural sponges. If you are looking for a thrill and want to get high, you will be delighted with the cliffs that fall into the sea, right next to Masouri.
  3. Symi: Considered one of the most beautiful islands in Greece, Symi is an island of divine charm with beaches unspoiled by tourists. If you pass through the small port of Symi, you can discover the island's typical architecture, with neoclassical houses in pastel colors that refer to the island's rich past. Historically, Symi became one of the richest islands in the Dodecanese thanks to shipbuilding and sponge fishing. So don't be surprised to see sublime and imposing houses on this small island. Let yourself be charmed by the heart of the island as you discover the small cafés and typical restaurants that populate Symi.
  4. Rhodes: Head for Rhodes, known throughout the world for the statue of Helios, god of the Sun. You will follow in the footsteps of the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Erected on the island around 292 BC, it was weakened some twenty years later by an earthquake. Over time, the statue decayed and today you will unfortunately find no trace of it. There are many things to do in Rhodes! You can explore the old town, visit Lindos or relax on one of the island's many fine sandy beaches. However, it should be noted that the atmosphere on Rhodes is very different to that of its neighboring islands, so don't be surprised if it is more crowded.

Kos enjoys the pleasant Mediterranean climate that Greece has to offer. For your cruise in Greece, we recommend that you leave between the monthsof April and November. This will allow you to avoid the summer crowds of July and August. You can also leave between April and June or later, between September and November. Temperatures range between 24 and 30°C during these 2 periods and can even reach 35°C in the middle of summer. Similar to its Cyclades neighbors, sailing conditions in the Dodecanese islands are windy.

  • Familiarize yourself with local regulations: Before embarking on your sailboat charter, make sure you are familiar with the regulations in force in the region in terms of navigation zones, anchorages or protected areas.
  • Documents and formalities: If you are the skipper of the boat, make sure you have a boat license to present. In addition, we strongly advise you to take out damage waiver insurance even if you hire a skipper: in the event of damage to the boat, you are directly responsible, and damage waiver protects you from any unintentional damage.
