Castellammare di Stabia, like many cities, is divided into two parts: the "old town" and the more recent city (which unfortunately is not very interesting). But the old town is big enough to spend several days there without going around in circles... Moreover, Castellammare di Stabia is a very lively town, and many attractions are organized for the summer. Cinema, theater, open-air concerts on the beach, fireworks and balls are organized in July and August.
An Italian spa town, Castellammare di Stabia belongs to the province of Naples and the region of Campania. Formerly called Stabies, this town was once renowned for its thermal spas, and has been since Roman times. But the eruption of Mount Vesuvius buried the city in the year 79. Extensive excavations have nevertheless enabled its heritage to be brought back from the ashes and the city's mineral springs are once again active.
A rich historical heritage
Nowadays, Castellammare di Stabia owes its fame to its historical treasure. A veritable Ali Baba's cave that will amaze history buffs! Numerous archaeological excavations have indeed revealed many villas buried under the cooled lava of Vesuvius. Located on the Varano plateau and embellished with remarkable frescoes, the San Marco and Arianna villas bear witness to Roman power in the Campania region. But the city also boasts a rich cultural heritage that deserves special attention.
The majestic Cassarmonica, located in the heart of the public garden, is one of the must-sees. This music pavilion, a magnificent architectural symbol of Castellammare di Stabia, also hosts numerous world-renowned musical events and concerts. During your stopover, don't miss a visit to the cathedral of Castellammare di Stabia and the Palazzo Farnese, which today houses the town hall.
Thermal springs and extravagant nature
By opting for a yacht charter in Castellammare di Stabia, you can not only sail along its sandy shores, but also enjoy its famous thermal springs! There are many spas and thermal centers offering therapeutic treatments. But before relaxing, consider taking a short hike up Mount Faito where exceptional nature awaits you. Embellished with a forest of oaks, beeches and chestnut trees, the mountain offers, as a bonus, a splendid view of the Bay of Naples by sailboat.
And if you want to see more, continue your trip to Pompeii, where you can visit the Vesuviano Museum, the forum and the ancient site of Pompeii. It will be a great opportunity to sample local flavors such as pizza Margherita or Pastella.
